      Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

      Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer.       Seth Brown struck out all four times he was up in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

      Advice: It’s probably about time for the A’s to give up on Brown. He was a solid role player in 2021 and ’22, but his slugging fell off last year, and his exit velocity numbers have really slipped while he’s hit .201/.242/.329 this season.       Jesús Sánchez homered, doubled twice and walked Friday in leading the Marlins to an 8-2 defeat of the Rangers.

      Advice: Finally. Sánchez increased his extra-base hit total by 50% tonight, going from six to nine. Statcast thinks he’s been one of the league’s unluckiest hitters and his hard-hit rate and strikeout rates are both better than his career norms, so odds are that his .657 OPS will continue to climb.       Adolis García went 0-for-4 as the Rangers’ cleanup man Friday against the Marlins.

      Advice: This has turned into quite a slump for García; he’s batting .164 in 110 at-bats since Apr. 25. The Rangers still don’t have much reason to drop him out of the cleanup spot, since most of the hitters behind him are struggling, too.       Advice: Conforto continues to work his way through a right hamstring strain that he sustained May 11 against the Reds. Before landing on the IL, Conforto was slashing .280/.331/.490 with seven home runs and 20 RBI over 154 plate appearances.
