    • Yields three runs in no-decision
Cease did not factor into the decision in Friday's 11-8 win over the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Despite generating 16 whiffs out of his 98 total pitches, Cease managed to strike out only five, tying a season-low also reached on May 20 against Atlanta and April 27 against Philadelphia. The Padres ace was cruising through five innings, allowing just two baserunners; however, he unraveled in a 25-pitch sixth inning, allowing four baserunners and departing with just one out. Cease's ERA stands at 3.42 with 87:21 K:BB in 71 innings this season. He is tentatively slated to face the Angels on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

    • Spotted in walking boot
Wacha was wearing a walking boot on his left foot following Friday's loss to the Padres, Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star reports.

Advice: Wacha took a 90-mph line drive off his left foot during the first at-bat of Friday's contest. He was able to remain in the game and pitch 5.1 innings of two-run ball while logging two strikeouts, but it definitely seems like his shot to the foot bothered him. The 32-year-old right-hander said after the game that he will undergo imaging Saturday, at which point he and the Royals will have a better idea of how severe the damage is. • Yields four runs
Sears (4-4) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against Atlanta.

Advice: Sears allowed three runs through two innings but settled in to give Oakland a decent outing. It wasn't enough as the A's were limited to two runs in the loss. Sears has given up four runs in three of his last five starts, resulting in. 4.18 ERA during that span. He generated 14 whiffs Friday, his best total since recording a season-high 16 on April 27. Sears now owns a 4.01 ERA and a 45:19 K:BB through 67.1 innings. His next start is projected to be at home against the Mariners. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Dylan Cease surrenders three runs to Royals
Dylan Cease allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Cease was pretty great to begin the year, posting a 2.19 ERA in his first eight starts, but this makes four straight outings that have missed the quality-start threshold. On the plus side, his peripherals have remained pretty strong during the downturn. There isn’t much reason to think this will last. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Michael Wacha in walking boot after Friday’s start
Michael Wacha was seen in a walking boot in the Royals’ clubhouse following Friday night’s start against the Padres.

Advice: Wacha was hit in the foot by a line drive by the very first batter during Friday’s start. He wound up staying in the game and giving up just two runs over 5 1/3 innings of work, but was sore after the game. The right-hander told reporters after the game that he’ll get some scans done on Saturday to see if any damage was done, but that he’s hoping for good news. Expect the Royals to provide an update on his status after Saturday’s imaging. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

He recorded a season-high eight strikeouts with 16 whiffs, including nine with his slider. It was the first time he recorded more than five punchouts in a start since April 30. Lopez has produced six quality starts in 10 appearances, resulting in a 1.73 ERA through 57.1 frames. His next start is projected to be in Washington. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

    • Returns to form in win
Lopez (5-5) earned the win in Friday's 6-1 victory over Houston, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Lopez appeared to be in the form that led him to a seventh place finish in the 2023 AL Cy Young race. The Minnesota right-hander generated an impressive 17 whiffs en route to his six punchouts while lowering his season ERA to 4.84 in 67 innings. The lone blemish on his evening was the 348-foot solo shot Alex Bregman hit into Houston's Crawford Boxes in the fourth inning. Lopez faces a difficult test in his next start -- lining up to face a formidable Yankees lineup in New York next week. Rotowire.com 43 minutes ago
