    • Graham Ashcraft surrenders three runs in loss
      Graham Ashcraft wasn’t at his best in Wednesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks, surrendering three runs on six hits over his five-plus innings of work.

      Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander also issued three free passes while punching out a pair on the evening. The Diamondbacks scratched out a pair of runs against him in the third inning on an RBI double by Pavin Smith and a bases-loaded walk by Christian Walker. Ashcraft then started the sixth inning and allowed a pair of singles before exiting — and one of those runs came around to score. He got just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of only 15 percent. He’ll carry a 3.86 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 32/12 K/BB ratio (39 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Monday. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago
       
    • Falls to Toronto
      Nola (4-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Nola held Toronto to one run through his first five innings before starting to unravel in the sixth, allowing hits to three of the first four batters in the frame, and he was ultimately charged with three more runs. It's the first loss since for Nola since his first start of the year March 30. His ERA now sits at 3.72 with a 1.20 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB across eight outings (49 innings) this season.     • Chris Bassitt pitches into seventh in victory
      Chris Bassitt pitched 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball and struck out six Wednesday as the Blue Jays bested the Phillies 5-3.

      Advice: The Jays wanted a little extra from Bassitt today with Yimi Garcia still unavailable and a tired bullpen after Tuesday’s 10-1 loss, and they got it, even though Bassitt didn’t get through seven as he would have liked. Bassitt struck out six and walked two. The win makes him 3-5 with a 5.06 ERA ahead of next week’s outing against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 2:10 pm
       
    • Aaron Nola tagged for four runs in defeat
      Aaron Nola allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss versus the Blue Jays.

      Advice: It was one run through five, but Nola gave up three singles and a double to produce three runs in the sixth, spoiling a nice day. Nola wound up with seven strikeouts and no walks.     • Strong effort vs. Phillies
      Bassitt (3-5) earned the win Wednesday over the Phillies, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: It was an impressive outing from Bassitt, as the right-hander limited a powerful Phillies offense to just three hits to snap a three-start losing streak. It's been an inconsistent start to the year for Bassitt though he seems to be rounding into form of late, delivering back-to-back quality starts. He lowered his ERA to 5.06 with a 1.55 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB across his first 42.2 innings this year.     • Lit up by Phillies
      Berrios (4-3) took the loss Tuesday against Philadelphia, surrendering eight earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven batters across 3.2 innings.

      Advice: Berrios had trouble locating the strike zone Tuesday and often found himself working with a lot of traffic on the basepaths, which were twice cleared by home runs. He was able to strike out batters at a notable rate, matching his season high in roughly half the innings, but he was immediately pulled after Bryce Harper's fourth-inning grand slam made it an 8-0 game. Despite Berrios' ugly performance Tuesday, he still holds a 2.85 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through his first eight starts, and he'll get a chance to bounce back against the Orioles on Sunday.     • Excellent against Cincinnati
      Gallen (4-2) earned the win Tuesday over the Reds, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Gallen had gone 11 days between starts after suffering a hamstring injury on April 26 against Seattle. He certainly looked healthy Tuesday, holding Cincinnati to one hit en route to his third scoreless outing this season. It's an encouraging effort from Gallen, who'd dropped his previous two starts, allowing eight runs over 10 innings in that span. He lowered his ERA to 2.84 with a 1.13 WHIP and 41:12 K:BB across seven starts (38 innings) this year. Gallen's currently in line for a road start Sunday against the Orioles in his next outing.       Allen did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: It was a brutal night for Allen, with four of Detroit's runs coming on a pair of Andy Ibanez home runs in the first two innings. However, he was spared a third straight loss, as Cleveland answered the Tigers' four-run second inning with five runs in the bottom of the frame. It's been a tough start to Allen's sophomore campaign -- he's 3-2 with a 6.41 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB through 39.1 innings. He's already given up nine home runs after surrendering 16 in 24 starts last season. Allen will look to turn things around in his next outing, currently lined up for Sunday versus the White Sox.     • José Berríos coughs up 8 runs in loss to Phillies
      José Berríos allowed eight runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

      Advice: Berríos was able to strike out seven on the day, compared to just two walks, and he allowed just three hard-hit balls all day. However, that led to four extra-base hits and two home runs, so the Phillies made the most of their contact. Berríos was able to post a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW on the day and allowed an average exit velocity of 90.4 mph, but he put himself in tough spots by throwing just 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone. All in all, it feels like more of an off night for Berríos than the sign of any major regression. He now has a 2.85 ERA on the season and will get another tough test against the Orioles next week.
