    Pfaadt (2-5) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Friday.

    Advice: Even in pitcher-friendly Petco Park, Pfaadt was tagged for a season-high three home runs. He gave up back-to-back solo shots to Fernando Tatis and Jurickson Profar in the first inning and also yielded a two-run blast to Ha-Seong Kim in the sixth. This was the third start in a row where Pfaadt has given up four or more runs. He's now at a 4.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76:15 K:BB through 78.1 innings across 13 starts.   • Framber Valdez turns in complete game in 7-1 win
    Framber Valdez went the distance against the Angels tonight, striking out eight in the Astros’ 7-1 victory.

    Advice: This was the same team he gave up eight runs to on May 20. Valdez pitched a four-hitter in his seventh career complete game and first of 2024. He’s now 5-3 with a 3.53 ERA, and he’ll have a chance to keep it going against the Giants on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:06 pm

    Valdez tossed a complete game to earn the win Friday over the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over nine innings.

    Advice: The Astros' bullpen was fairly fresh, but Valdez took care of business himself in his seventh career complete game. The lone mistake on his line was a Kevin Pillar solo home run in the second inning. Valdez has quality starts in four of his last five outings, and his strong performance Friday lowered his ERA to 3.53 with a 1.15 WHIP and 50:18 K:BB over 63.2 innings through 10 starts this season.   • Camilo Doval perfect in earning save
    Camilo Doval was perfect in the ninth for a save in a 5-2 game against the Rangers on Friday.

    Advice: Doval was pitching for the first time since giving up four runs in a blown save and a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.     Doval struck out one batter in a perfect inning to earn a save over the Rangers on Friday.

    Advice: Doval fired 10 of 15 pitches to quickly retire the Ragners' 3-4-5 hitters in order and finish off the 5-2 win. It was his first appearance since coughing up four runs against the Yankees on June 2. Doval has now converted 10 of his 12 save chances and Friday was his first successful attempt since May 24.     Scott (5-4) struck out two batters over 1.2 perfect frames and earned a win over the Guardians on Friday.

    Advice: Scott entered a tie game in the eighth inning and forced a double play to escape the first-and-third jam he inherited. He then struck out two in the ninth inning before Miami walked it off in the bottom of the frame. After some early season struggles, Scott has now gone 18 straight innings without allowing an earned run. His season ERA has fallen to 1.40 with a 27:19 K:BB through 25.2 innings.   • Tanner Scott notches fifth win for Marlins
    Tanner Scott pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and notched a win in relief Friday against the Guardians.

    Advice: Scott came into a tie game in the eighth and stayed in to finish after the Marlins took a one-run lead. It’s his fifth win of the year, all coming since Apr. 30.     Christian Yelich went 3-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base against the Tigers on Friday.

    Carlos Correa went 2-for-3 against the Pirates on Friday.

    Advice: It was a quiet night for the Twins offense as they were shutout by Mitch Keller and the Pittsburgh bullpen. Correa added two more hits to his ledger. He also hit second in the order, which is the spot ahead of Royce Lewis.
