    • Sitting versus southpaw
Kepler will sit Saturday versus the Astros.

Advice: Kepler will take a seat as Minnesota faces left-hander Framber Valdez on Saturday. Manuel Margot will replace Kepler in right field and bat leadoff against Houston. Rotowire.com Today, 9:06 am

    • Two hits, homer vs. Brewers
Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Milwaukee.

Advice: Bellinger opened the scoring with a two-out solo shot off Colin Rea, giving the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the first inning with his eighth homer of the year and his first in 18 games. While he hadn't been hitting for much power, Bellinger's been seeing the ball well recently -- he has hits in six straight games, going 11-for-27 (.407) in that span, including five consecutive two-hit efforts. The 28-year-old outfielder is now slashing .267/.332/.471 with 26 RBI and 19 runs scored through 190 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:34 pm

    • Getting breather Thursday
Kepler is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.

Advice: With Thursday's contest being a day game after a night game, manager Rocco Baldelli will give rest to several key regulars. Along with Kepler, Edouard Julien, Alex Kirilloff and Trevor Larnach will rest as the Twins open up room in the lineup for reserves Manuel Margot, Kyle Farmer, Carlos Santana and Christian Vazquez. • Steals first base of 2024
Bellinger went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-6 loss to the Brewers. He also stole a base.

Advice: The stolen base was notable because it's the first of the season for Bellinger, though he did miss some time with a fractured ribcage, which could have cut into his running. He had a career-high 20 steals last year as he reached the 20-20 plateau for the first time in seven MLB campaigns. Bellinger hasn't been quite as effective so far in 2024, though he's batting a solid .262 with a .774 OPS, and the 28-year-old has the talent to start racking up the counting stats in a hurry. • Corbin Carroll tallies three hits in losing effort
Corbin Carroll went 3-for-5 with a double on Wednesday in the Diamondbacks’ loss at the hands of the Rangers.

Advice: It’s been an unexpected struggle this season for Carroll as Wednesday’s three-hit effort was his first of the year and just his ninth multi-hit performance through 52 games. To put that in context, he recorded 47 games last year with at least two hits across 155 contests. The 23-year-old holds a calamitous .567 OPS with two homers and nine steals so far, and the lack of consistent hard contact across his quality of contact metrics doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence that he’ll eventually turn things around as the season progresses. It’s possible he’s been playing through a lingering shoulder issue, because it’s difficult to explain what exactly is going on otherwise. We’re not concerned long-term given his immense talent, but there are no easy answers at the moment. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:23 pm
    • Jackson Merrill returns to lineup after day off
Jackson Merrill is back in center field Wednesday after getting the day off against a lefty on Tuesday.

Advice: The Padres are again facing a lefty, but Merrill has been starting against most of them, even though he’s hitting just .233/.261/.233 in 46 plate appearances against them. He’s also 7-for-35 with no extra-base hits or walks in his last eight games overall. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:25 am

    • Luis Matos delivers game-winning for Giants
Luis Matos delivered a game-winning sac fly in the bottom of the 10th as the Giants bested the Phillies 1-0 on Tuesday.

Advice: Matos was 0-for-3 in the contest before his fly to left entered the game. It’s hard to say if the Giants will keep both he and Heliot Ramos after Michael Conforto comes off the IL, something that should happen this weekend. The Giants consider Matos the better option in center, but Ramos has been the more impressive hitter to date. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:39 pm

    • Getting breather versus lefty
Merrill isn't in the Padres' lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.

Advice: The left-handed bat of Merrill will step out of the lineup Tuesday as the Marlins prepare to send Jesus Luzardo to the mound. Jose Azocar will fill the void in center field and bat eighth while Merrill sits. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:21 pm

    • Idle against lefty
Kepler is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Kepler will avoid a matchup with southpaw Cole Ragans on Tuesday, a normal occurrence for the lefty-hitting outfielder. Manuel Margot will bat leadoff and play right field. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:07 pm
