      Advice: The veteran closer let his defense do the work, getting outs on a flyball, a groundball and a popup in foul territory. Kimbrel hasn't been tagged with an earned run in 10 straight appearances, converting all six of his save chances during that stretch with a 10:0 K:BB as he puts his early season struggles behind him.       Craig Kimbrel tossed a clean ninth inning and picked up the save against the Rays on Friday.

      Advice: The save was Kimbrel’s 14th of the season and came on the heels of him taking the loss in his last appearance against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. That wasn’t a save opportunity, though.       Iglesias pitched a perfect inning to earn a save against the Nationals on Thursday.

      Advice: Iglesias made quick work of Washington in the ninth inning, needing just nine pitches to set the side down in order. The veteran closer has converted each of his past eight save chances, allowing three runs over 10 frames during that span. Iglesias hasn't been punching out batters at his usual rate this season -- he has just 16 strikeouts through 23.1 innings -- but he nonetheless is tied for fifth in the majors with 16 saves (in 18 chances).       Raisel Iglesias tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Nationals on Thursday.



      Advice: The save was Iglesias’ 16th of the season, but his lack of strikeouts this season is evident. He has struck out seven in his last 12 innings.       Kimbrel (4-2) allowed an unearned run on two hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Isiah Kiner-Falefa delivered a walk-off single in the ninth inning to hand Kimbrel his first loss since April 28. This also ended Kimbrel's scoreless streak at 7.2 innings, though he hasn't given up an earned run since May 8.     • Craig Kimbrel takes loss to Blue Jays in ninth
      Craig Kimbrel, who entered a tie game to start the bottom of the ninth, took a loss after giving up an unearned run Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: The unearned run was his own fault, as he threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt. The runners to reach against him both did so on singles, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s game-winning hit to right would have been caught if Kyle Stowers wasn’t playing shallow to prevent the sac fly with one out. It’s obviously a bad result, but since Kimbrel’s pitching wasn’t really the problem tonight, it’s unlikely to throw the closer’s role in Baltimore into chaos again.       José Alvarado struck out the side in the ninth inning on Wednesday against the Brewers to collect his 11th save of the season.

      Advice: Alvarado worked around a one-out single from William Contreras to pick up his second save in the last three days, striking out Andruw Monasterio, Christian Yelich and Willy Adames to protect a two-run margin. The 29-year-old southpaw has converted 11 of his 12 save opportunities this season to go along with a solid 2.96 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 29/10 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (29 appearances).       Alvarado gave up a hit and struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 11th save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Brewers.

      Advice: The southpaw picked up his first save since May 21 with a dominant effort, as he fired 15 of 21 pitches for strikes. Alvarado is putting together a strong season, posting a 2.96 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 27.1 innings and blowing only one save chance so far, but the Phillies' tendency to play matchups in high-leverage spots keeps him from being an elite fantasy closer, as Jeff Hoffman (five saves) and Gregory Soto (two saves) are also in the ninth-inning mix.       Pivetta (3-4) earned the win Wednesday over Atlanta, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings.

      Advice: It was a stellar effort against a potent Atlanta lineup from Pivetta, who now has nine strikeouts in consecutive starts while punching out eight or more in four of his last five outings. The 31-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.40 with a 0.94 WHIP and 51:9 K:BB across eight starts (42.1 innings) this season.
