      Wheeler (5-3) earned the win Friday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over 7.1 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: It was an encouraging return to form for Wheeler, after he was tagged for six runs in four innings in his last start against Miami. Before that outing, Wheeler had allowed just one earned run over four starts (25.1 innings). He's now won five of his last six starts while lowering his ERA to 2.52 with a 0.97 WHIP and 71:19 K:BB over 60.2 innings this season.     • Zack Wheeler fans six in victory over Nationals
      Zack Wheeler picked up his fifth victory of the season on Friday night, holding the Nationals to just two runs on three hits over 7 1/3 strong innings of work.

      Advice: The 33-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. The Nationals’ scoring in the contest came on a pair of RBI doubles — one by Keibert Ruiz in the second inning and another off the bat of Eddie Rosario in the fifth. Aside from that though, Wheeler was in complete control. He got 17 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night — 10 on his fastball alone — while posting a CSW of 28 percent.       Evan Carter (back) was held out of the Rangers’ starting lineup once again on Friday night, but will be available off the bench.

      Advice: The 21-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since Saturday due to stiffness in his lower back. The good news is that he’s progressing and won’t require a trip to the injured list, and likely wouldn’t have been in the starting lineup anyways on Friday with left-hander Tyler Anderson taking the ball for the Angels.       Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Carter (back) is available off the bench for Friday's series opener against the Angels, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Carter hasn't played since May 10 against the Rockies due to lower-back inflammation. He received a cortisone shot Monday, and while he won't be starting Friday, he could make a return to the lineup over the weekend.       Cabrera (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: It will be his first time throwing off the bump since he landed on the 15-day injured list on May 8 with a right shoulder impingement.       Advice: Acuña received the day off on Wednesday as the Braves look for him to break out of his slump. He went 0-for-5 at the plate on Tuesday, which dropped his average to .245 on the season.     • Braves coaches think Acuña needs a “detox”
      According to Ken Suguira of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves gave Ronald Acuña Jr. the day off on Wednesday because they wanted him to “detox” as a way to break his slump.

      Advice: Acuña’s batting average (.245), slugging percentage (.342), and home-run rate (one per 51.7 at-bats) are all beneath the single-season lows in his seven-year career, as the 26-year-old tries to follow up a historically good season. “You can just read their faces sometimes, and actions,” said Braves coach Brian Snitker. “And it’s like, ‘Well, it’s time.’ Kid needs a little breather here. He’s played every inning of every game. It’s not a bad thing to sit and watch sometimes.” Braves coaches, Eddie Pérez and Tom Goodwin, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe that Acuña is pressing. “Sometimes, you force some things,” Goodwin said. Perhaps with a short break, Acuña will get back to the level everybody has seen him produce at before. Fantasy managers should clearly keep him in the lineup and hope he gets it going soon.       Pepiot (leg) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is likely to throw a simulated game in the near future, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The exact next steps for Pepiot are unclear, but he is on the road with the team and is still aiming to return after a minimum term on the 15-day injured list.
