    • Ronel Blanco canā€™t overcome red-hot Mets
Ronel Blano was pulled after 5 2/3 innings after allowing six runs, three earned, on Friday against the Mets. He struck out five and walked three in a loss.

Advice: Blanco pitched fine Friday. His three unearned runs came as a result of an Alex Bregman two-out error that allowed Jeff McNeil to sneak a ball just over the right field fence in the next at-bat. That was the Metsā€™ third home run of the game as Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso also left the yard. He still missed plenty of bats with 12 whiffs on the day and would have earned his fourth straight quality start if Bregman had fielded that ground ball cleanly. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

    • Catching in AZL on Saturday
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Moreno (thumb) will catch five innings in an Arizona Complex League game Saturday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Moreno was placed on the injured list June 22 due to a sprained left thumb, but Lovullo said earlier in the week that he expects the catcher to return after the minimum 10 days. Barring any setbacks this weekend, Moreno will be eligible to return Tuesday for the beginning of the Diamondbacks' road series against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:26 pm

    • Eduardo Rodriguez heading for follow-up MRI
Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will undergo another follow-up MRI exam on July 6.

Advice: If all goes well with that exam, it sounds like the 31-year-old southpaw will finally be cleared to resume throwing off of a mound. Once thatā€™s done, heā€™ll need several sessions off the mound before facing live hitters and then several minor league rehab starts before heā€™s ready to join the Diamondbacksā€™ rotation. It seems optimistic to expect him back anytime before the beginning of August. Rotoworld Today, 4:19 pm

    • MRI set for July 6
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Rodriguez (shoulder) is scheduled for a follow-up MRI on July 6, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez extended his throwing program out to 105 feet earlier in June, and Lovullo noted that the southpaw could start throwing off the mound depending on the results of the MRI. Rodriguez has been out all season after straining his left shoulder in spring training, and his initial throwing program was shut down in April due to shoulder tightness. • Jeimer Candelario (knee) expected to return Sunday
Redsā€™ manager David Bell told reporters on Friday that Jeimer Candelario (knee) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Sunday.

Advice: Candelario has missed each of the teamā€™s last three games due to a knee issue and heā€™ll sit on Saturday as well. The team doesnā€™t want him to miss a full 10 days though and theyā€™re very hopeful that heā€™ll be able to return to action on Sunday. Fantasy mangers may still want to sit him through the weekend though to be on the safe side if alternative options are available. Rotoworld Today, 3:24 pm

    • Aiming for Sunday return
Candelario (hamstring) is on track to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Candelario hasn't played since Tuesday as he tends to hamstring tendinitis. However, he's set to make his return for the series finale Sunday and will avoid a stint on the IL. In his stead, Noelvi Marte should continue to start at third base while Spencer Steer handles first base work. Rotowire.com Today, 2:50 pm

    • Held out again Friday
Candelario (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game in St. Louis.

Advice: It's the third straight day on the bench for Candelario, who has been dealing with hamstring tendinitis since last week. There are no indications to this point that he might require a trip to the 10-day injured list, so consider him day-to-day for now. Noelvi Marte and Spencer Steer are again handling the infield corners for the Reds on Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:12 pm

    • Jeimer Candelario (knee) held out again on Friday
Jeimer Candelario (knee) was held out of the Redsā€™ starting lineup once again for Friday nightā€™s tilt against the Cardinals.

Advice: Itā€™s the third straight game that the 30-year-old slugger has missed due to the knee issue. There havenā€™t been any indications yet that the injury will require a trip to the injured list, but if it lingers through the weekend the Reds may be forced to make a move. Noelvi Marte will start at the hot corner on Friday night while Spencer Steer mans first base for the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 1:09 pm
