    • Breather Saturday
McCormick is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Advice: McCormick will head to the bench after he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Friday's 6-1 loss to Minnesota. Mauricio Dubon will take over in left field and bat seventh Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:14 am

    • Chas McCormick strikes out three times
Chas McCormick fanned all three times he was up Friday versus the Twins.

Advice: The Astros have decided that JosĆ© Abreuā€™s pre-2023 track record matters more than McCormickā€™s impressive 2023 output and have thus started McCormick just twice in the last six games. We think thatā€™s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but weā€™re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity. • MJ Melendez goes 0-for-4 in loss to Padres
MJ Melendez finished 0-for-4 while his teammates were combining to score eight runs Friday against the Padres.

Advice: Melendez will likely turn this around if the Royals stick with him long enough, but at this point, sending him down for 2-3 weeks would make sense. Heā€™s sitting at .172/.233/.337 for the season. Drew Waters wouldnā€™t necessarily be a better bet, but at least heā€™d improve the defense in left if given a shot. • Lifts homer in loss
Melendez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Twins.

Advice: Melendez's fourth-inning blast gave the Royals a 4-0 lead before things turned south for them in the middle innings. May has been a rough month for Melendez, who has gone 12-for-69 (.174) with six extra-base hits over 23 contests in the month. His previous homer was April 19, and he now has five long balls on the year to go with 13 RBI, 14 runs scored, two stolen bases and a poor .176/.238/.346 slash line through 50 games. Melendez is in a strong-side platoon role, though Garrett Hampson has started to get more looks versus righties amid Melendez's lengthy slump. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:48 pm

    • Sitting Thursday
McCormick isn't in the Astros' lineup for Thursday's game against Seattle, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: McCormick had sat out three games in a row before returning to Houston's lineup Wednesday, but an 0-for-4 performance will put him back on the bench for Thursday's series finale. Yordan Alvarez, Jake Meyers and Mauricio Dubon will start across the outfield while McCormick sits. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:37 am

    • Resting Wednesday
Rojas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Rojas will hit the bench for the series finale after he had manned center field in each of the last four games while going 4-for-9 with two doubles, three stolen bases and one run. Cristian Pache will fill in for Rojas in center field. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:16 am

    • Absent again
McCormick is not in the Astros' lineup versus the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: This will be the third consecutive absence for McCormick after also sitting out Sunday's and Monday's contests. He made a return from an injured-list stint due to right hamstring discomfort last Tuesday and has recorded a hit across the nine plate appearances he's logged in the three games he's played in that span. In his place, Yordan Alvarez will start in left field while Jon Singleton slots in as the designated hitter and Jose Abreu draws the start at first base. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:43 pm

    • Getting breather
Melendez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Despite Kansas City facing a right-hander Tuesday, Melendez will miss the Royals starting nine. Instead, Garrett Hampson will play left field and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:21 pm

    • Swipes two bags in loss
Rojas went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a pair of stolen bases in a loss to the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Rojas knocked a fourth-inning RBI single and proceeded to steal two bases but was left stranded at third. The outfielder finished with his first multi-hit game in over two weeks amidst a poor month of May during which he's batting only .203 (13-for-64). Despite his struggles reaching base this season -- Rojas' OBP sits at a meager .269 -- he's managed to carve out some fantasy value in deep leagues with 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts.
