    Kyle Hendricks was strong for seven innings Tuesday against the Giants, allowing just two runs and five hits in a loss.

    Advice: Colten Brewer came in and gave up three runs in the eighth after Hendricks left, but that didn’t matter much in a game in which the Cubs managed just one run. Hendricks boasts a 0.84 ERA in 21 1/3 innings this month, making for an incredible in-season turnaround. He entered June with a 10.16 ERA in seven starts and two relief appearances.   • Ketel Marte hits two-run homer in Arizona’s win
    Ketel Marte hit a two-run homer in the first and singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh as the Diamondbacks edged the Twins 5-4 on Tuesday.

    Advice: Marte has 16 homers, which is already the third highest total of his career. He’s going to deserve to be the NL’s starting second baseman in the All-Star Game this year, but since the Padres got away with listing Luis Arraez at second after turning him into a full-time first baseman, there’s still some doubt who will get the nod.   • Brandon Pfaadt blows lead in seventh versus Twins
    Brandon Pfaadt surrendered four runs in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Twins.

    Advice: Byron Buxton homered off Pfaadt in the fifth, but that was the only run he allowed until the seventh, when he gave up a three-run shot to Ryan Jeffers. He was at just 80 pitches at the time, so fatigue probably wasn’t much of an issue. Still, it’s hard to go through a quality lineup three times. Pfaadt remained 3-6 with a 4.45 ERA.   • Paul Sewald notches 10th save against Twins
    Paul Sewald recorded his 10th save with a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday against the Twins.

    Advice: Sewald gave up a two-out double to Byron Buxton, putting the tying run on base. Ryan Jeffers followed with a stinging liner to left, but it was hit right to Lourdes Gurriel Jr., ending the game.   • Joe Ryan can’t overcome bad start versus D-backs
    Joe Ryan yielded four runs in six innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: All of the runs came in the first two innings. Ryan excelled afterwards, retiring 14 of the final 15 batters he faced. He struck out five and walked none. Ryan’s next start is likely to come Sunday versus the Mariners. Rotoworld Today, 9:17 pm
  • Benintendi homers as White Sox fall to Dodgers
    Andrew Benintendi went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Dodgers



    Advice: Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first after a leadoff homer by Shohei Ohtani, Benintendi put the White Sox on top when he smacked a two-run homer to deep right field to score Tommy Pham and give the White Sox a 2-1 lead. That lead didn’t prove to be enough, as the Dodgers bounced back courtesy of a two-run homer by Freddie Freeman and an RBI single by Ohtani. Benintendi is batting just .203 on the season with six home runs and 22 RBI. He’s well off the fantasy radar at this time. Rotoworld Today, 8:38 pm
  • Twins prospect Matt Canterino shut down again
    Twins RHP prospect Matt Canterino has been shut down from throwing due to right shoulder soreness.

    Advice: Canterino hasn’t pitched in the minors since the 2022 campaign at this point after undergoing Tommy John surgery and a series of shoulder issues. It’s another tough break for the 26-year-old righty who was a second-round pick all the way back in 2019. Rotoworld Today, 5:59 pm

    Rodriguez will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
