• Gets break Friday
Caballero is not in the lineup for Friday's matchup against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Caballero has started in the majority of games for Tampa Bay at shortstop this season, but he will get a break as the Rays kick off their series with Toronto. The 27-year-old has started all but five of the team's 45 games this season, slashing .252/.309/.360 with 17 stolen bases and 13 RBI. Amed Rosario will get the start in place of Caballero at shortstop and bat seventh against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Activated from IL
Mendick (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Friday.

Advice: Mendick was placed on the injured list in early May with soreness in his back and only needed two rehab starts before being activated. During those two Triple-A games, Mendick went 0-for-8 with two walks and a run scored. He'll replace Braden Shewmake on the big-league roster and could see immediate action at third base with Bryan Ramos on the 10-day IL with a strained left quad. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

  • Optioned to AAA
Shewmake was optioned to Triple-AAA Charlotte on Friday.

Advice: Shewmake will move back to Charlotte with Danny Mendick (back) being reinstated from the 10-day IL on Friday. The 26-year-old struggled during 29 games in the bigs, slashing .125/.134/.203 with one walk across 67 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • DJ LeMahieu (foot) starts rehab Friday
DJ LeMahieu (foot) will start his minor league rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Somerset.

Advice: LeMahieu has been on the injured list since the beginning of the season with a fractured foot. He could be activated by the Yankees as long as he doesn’t suffer another setback. Rotoworld Today, 10:26 am

  • Swipes second bag
Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: Schuemann singled in his first at-bat before swiping his second bag of the season, though he would be left stranded as Oakland failed to generate any offense against a dominant Cristian Javier. The second baseman has now hit safely in five of his last six games, going 6-for-20 (.300) over that stretch with a homer, a double and four RBI. The stolen base was Schuemann's first since April 20 against the Guardians. Rotowire.com Today, 7:08 am

  • Pushes further away from slump
Torres went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Twins.

Advice: After enduring a 5-for-36 (.138) slump from Apr. 29 to May 11, Torres has gone 6-for-16 (.375) and has scored four runs during his last four games. On Thursday, he clubbed a pair of doubles off Joe Ryan to bring his season total to six through 187 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 pm

  • Out of lineup Thursday
Triolo isn't in the Pirates' lineup Thursday versus the Cubs.

Advice: Triolo will begin the day on the bench amid his recent struggles. After going 0-for-3 on Wednesday, he has just two hits in his last 39 plate appearances. The third baseman has been starting in the absence of Ke'Bryan Hayes, but Nick Gonzales will slide over from second to third Thursday. Alika Williams joins the lineup at second and will bat ninth. • Rehab assignment on tap Friday
LeMahieu (foot) is in line to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Friday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Advice: LeMahieu has already joined Somerset, but he will first go through a full workout Thursday and, assuming that goes off without a hitch, will begin playing in games Friday. The veteran infielder had to have his initial rehab assignment last month halted after just one inning due to ongoing issues with his right foot, but he's now ready to try again. Since he's missed so much time, the expectation is that LeMahieu will probably need at least a handful of rehab games before rejoining the Yankees' active roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 am

  • Jon Berti starting at 3B for Yankees on Thursday
Jon Berti will start at 3B and bat eighth for the Yankees on Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Berti has started four games at third base over the last week, with Oswaldo Cabrera starting two and playing second for another. Berti has gone 6-for-19 (.316) in six games since coming off the IL with two steals; however, Cabrera is 9-for-30 (.300) in 10 games in May with six strikeouts and two walks, so he’s certainly not giving the job up to Berti without a fight. The two are likely to rotate the vast majority of the games for the foreseeable future which hurts both of their fantasy upside. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:55 am
