    • Tommy Edman progresses to hitting from both sides
Tommy Edman (wrist) has been cleared to take batting practice from both sides of the plate.

Advice: Edman continues to work his way back from offseason surgery on his right wrist and remains without a definitive timetable to return to St. Louis at the moment. The versatile switch-hitting 29-year-old figures to be ready around the All-Star break, but he’s going to need a couple weeks of at-bats in the minors to get back up to speed in the wake of such an extended layoff. • Reaches base three times
Pena went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Pena entered Tuesday's game having failed to tally an extra-base hit in 10 straight starts. He ended that drought with an RBI double in the third inning and also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly one frame later. Pena is now hitting .302 with five home runs and nine stolen bases across 251 plate appearances on the campaign. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:10 am

    • Jeremy Peña drives in two in win over Cardinals
Jeremy Peña went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Peña doubled off of Andre Pallante in the third inning to drive in Alex Bregman and give the Astros a 3-1 lead. He later hit a sacrifice fly to again drive in Bregman while pushing the Astros’ lead to 7-2. Peña is now hitting .302 on the season with five homers, 23 RBI, and nine stolen bases. His 71 hits are tied for ninth-most in the majors, as he continues to be a staple in a potent Astros lineup. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:50 pm

    • Recovering from minor setback
Turner (hamstring) had a minor setback when he felt some leg soreness following a high-intensity workout May 25, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Turner resumed workouts this past weekend, doing some light jogging and change-of-direction running in addition to fielding grounders and hitting in the cage. The Phillies haven't offered a timetable for when he will run the bases, and Turner will need to start up a running program in addition to taking part in sliding drills before he's cleared for a rehab assignment. Turner will travel with the Phillies for their series in London against the Mets later this week to continue workouts, but he won't be activated from the 10-day injured list. After he had seemingly been trending toward an earlier-than-expected return, Turner now looks to be at least a couple weeks away from rejoining the Phillies lineup. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:45 am

    • Moving into reserve role
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Since DJ LeMahieu returned from the injured list Tuesday to make his season debut, Cabrera has unsurprisingly been the odd man out of the New York lineup more often than not. He's made just two starts in the six games since LeMahieu's return and appears set to fill a utility role moving forward after holding down the fort at third base for much of the past two months. • Ezequiel Tovar tallies three more hits in loss
Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a double on Saturday in the Rockies’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar notched his second consecutive three-hit performance to raise his batting average to .302 (71-for-235) with eight homers and four steals through 56 contests. The 22-year-old shortstop has been an unexpected batting average booster this season and wound up leading the National League with 16 extra-base hits during the month of May. That’ll do. • ‘No timetable’ for Trea Turner (hamstring) yet
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters Friday that Trea Turner (hamstring) remains without a definitive timetable to return.

Advice: Turner suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a left hamstring strain earlier this week when he experienced leg soreness following a high-intensity workout. He managed to resume fielding grounders and also did some light jogging prior to Friday’s game against the Cardinals, but doesn’t appear close to running the bases again, which would be his final hurdle prior to a minor league rehab assignment. It’s a frustrating situation for fantasy managers, but the Phillies can’t really afford to rush him back and risk another setback. At this point, a mid-June return seems like a best-case scenario. • Starring role in win
Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar was the only Rockie with multiple hits in the contest. This was his 10th multi-hit effort over his last 16 games, a span in which he's batting .356 (26-for-73) with four homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base. The shortstop is up to a .294/.328/.481 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, four steals, 17 doubles and a triple over 55 contests this season. He still hits far better at home (.862 OPS), but he's been passable on the road this season as well with a .757 OPS away from Coors Field. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:23 pm
    • Ezequiel Tovar picks up three hits, homers in win
Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a win Friday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar gave the Rockies a 4-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth off Walker Buehler. The shortstop has homered eight times in 2024 with five of them coming in May. Tovar still needs to show a little more consistency to reach an elite level, but the talent is there for him to reach that lofty status in the coming years. Rotoworld Friday, 9:47 pm
