• Umimpressive in no-decision
Liberatore allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 3.1 innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Monday.

Advice: Liberatore hurled two scoreless frames before the Angels tagged him for four runs in the third, with the final two tallies coming on a Kevin Pillar two-run homer. The southpaw departed in line for the loss, but St. Louis' offense eventually heated up to take him off the hook. This was Liberatore's second start of the season, and it came primarily as a result of Steven Matz landing on the injured list due to a back injury. Matz isn't expected back soon, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Cardinals put Liberatore back in the bullpen given his poor results Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:35 pm
  • Gives up five runs in loss
Vasquez (0-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while failing to strike out a batter over 3.2 innings, taking the loss Monday versus the Rockies.

Advice: Vasquez gave up four of those runs in the fourth inning and was ultimately relieved by Adrian Morejon. Aside from his start versus the Cubs last Tuesday, Vasquez has posted mostly mediocre outings at the major-league level this year. He's at a 6.32 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through 15.2 innings across four starts. If Joe Musgrove (elbow) returns from the injured list when first eligible Friday, Vasquez could lose his place on the 26-man roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:26 pm

  • Secures another save
Beeks walked three batters in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Monday's 5-4 win over the Padres.

Advice: Beeks has earned a save in four of his last five appearances, including three saves in the last four days. The southpaw has permitted multiple baserunners in back-to-back games, but he continues to dance around trouble. Beeks has four saves, one hold, a 2.21 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP over 20.1 innings this season. He's also sporting a 14:11 K:BB, which casts serious doubt on how long he'll be able to find success in high-leverage situations. Justin Lawrence, who doesn't have a save in May, worked a two-inning assignment and picked up a hold Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:19 pm

  • Picks up first win
Hudson (1-6) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three over 5.2 innings to earn the win Monday over the Padres.

Advice: Hudson lost six of his first seven starts with the Rockies, but he was able to get in the win column Monday. While this was a road start, he gave up multiple home runs for the first time this year -- Xander Bogaerts tagged him for a solo shot in the second inning and Jurickson Profar added a two-run blast in the sixth. Hudson is now at a 6.13 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 23:25 K:BB through 39.2 innings this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:16 pm
  • Takes seventh loss
Stripling (1-7) took the loss against Houston on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter over five innings.

Advice: Stripling was efficient in the outing, needing just 52 pitches to get through five frames. However, he was pulled before the sixth inning despite the low pitch count and despite retiring the final five batters he faced, and a fourth-inning solo homer he served up to Alex Bregman ended up being the deciding factor in sending him to his MLB-high seventh loss. Stripling at least managed to improve from a horrific outing his previous trip to the mound, when he gave up 11 runs (five earned) over 1.2 innings against Texas. • Picks up first big-league victory
Arrighetti (1-4) earned the win over Oakland on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings.

Advice: Arrighetti opened with three scoreless frames before giving up a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Houston was ahead by just one run when the right-hander departed, but a strong performance by the team's bullpen and a late offensive surge ensured that the rookie held onto his first win as a major-leaguer. Arrighetti has managed to stick in the rotation despite posting a 7.52 ERA through six starts, so Monday's victory was a much-needed positive outing in terms of his chances of hanging on as a starter. Still, with Cristian Javier recently coming off the injured list and Jose Urquidy (forearm) potentially soon to follow, Arrighetti may not be long for the big-league rotation. • Graham Ashcraft charged for three in ND
Graham Ashcraft surrendered three runs over four innings in a no-decision Monday to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Ashcraft not only allowed seven hits, but he gave up three walks against three strikeouts. The 26-year-old gave up homers in the second and third inning, and he was charged for another run in the third. That makes back-to-back mediocre starts after he had pitched so well in his previous outings, and his ERA has jumped up to 4.12 in the process. Ashcraft shouldn’t be in lineups for Saturday against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 pm
  • Jordan Montgomery shaky in start against Reds
Jordan Montgomery allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings while not qualifying for a decision against the Reds on Monday.

Advice: Montgomery allowed six hits with three walks, and he was able to strike out seven. He allowed a two-run double in the second inning to Spencer Steer, and the third run came after the southpaw had left the contest on a Mike Ford single. This wasn’t close to the strong outing he had Wednesday against the Reds, but there were some good moments and a few punchouts to help. He’s now the owner of a 4.76 ERA, with a chance to lower that number against the Tigers on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 pm
  • Dakota Hudson gives up two homers, wins anyway
Dakota Hudson notched his first win Monday after allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Padres.

Advice: Hudson had a 3/3 K/BB ratio and gave up two homers, but he’s now on the board after going 0-6 in his first seven starts. The win was his first since he allowed five runs in five innings against the Braves while pitching for the Cardinals last Sept. 6. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:52 pm
