• Ryan Yarbrough throws four shutout in bulk role
Ryan Yarbrough threw four shutout innings on Sunday against the Blue Jays in a bulk relief appearance.

Advice: Yarbrough was the third pitcher in the game for the Dodgers, coming into the game in the fourth inning. He allowed just two hits and struck out two while walking nobody. The lefty now has a 3.00 ERA on the season and has been tremendous in the long relief role for the Dodgers. The role also gives him a chance to snag sneaky wins, which gives him fantasy value in most formats. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

  • Kevin Gausman stifles Dodgers in win
Kevin Gausman allowed one run on five hits in seven innings in a win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

Advice: Gausman also struck out five and walked nobody on the day. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but that’s to be expected against the Dodgers. Gausman allowed four extra-base hits and was only able to post a 17 percent whiff rate. He also saw his velocity down slightly on both his four-seam and splitter but nothing concerning. He continues to have some issues throwing the splitter for strikes with just a 26 percent zone rate on the pitch. Still, it’s certainly a start you’re happy with against an offense like the Dodgers. Gausman’s ERA is now down to 4.50 and he’ll get the Nationals next weekend. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Lands on injured list
Wicks was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a strained left forearm, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: The left-hander was scratched from Sunday's start in Boston due to the injury and will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Hayden Wesneski will start in his place and could remain in the rotation while Wicks is out. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago

  • Pitches through side tightness
Hicks said he experienced a bit of side tightness during his start against the Pirates on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Hicks apparently felt the tightness following the sixth inning, though he still briefly came out for the seventh before being pulled after giving up a leadoff single. The right-hander is apparently fine, but it's still worth keeping an eye on his status heading into his next turn through the rotation, which lines up for next weekend in Philadelphia. • Cubs place Jordan Wicks (forearm) on 15-day IL
Cubs placed LHP Jordan Wicks on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 25, with a left forearm strain.

Advice: This seemed inevitable after Wicks was scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday due to tightness in his forearm. What remains unclear, is just how long he’ll be shelved for. Daniel Palencia was recalled from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move on Sunday to add an extra arm to the bullpen. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

  • On mend from batted ball to head
Junis (shoulder) resumed traveling with the Brewers and said Friday that he's feeling better after he was struck in the head by a batted ball during the batting practice in Pittsburgh on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Junis was sent to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for further evaluation after he was struck by a ball off the bat of Pirates infielder Alika Williams prior to Monday's series opener. Fortunately for Junis, an MRI and CT scan both returned clean, so his buildup program for his recovery from a right shoulder impingement should be relatively uninterrupted. Junis' lone appearance with Milwaukee prior to being shelved with the shoulder injury came as a starter, but Brewers manager Pat Murphy recently suggested that the right-hander might return from the IL in a relief role. • Draws another start
Henry is slated to make his next start Monday against the Dodgers at Chase Field.

Advice: Henry made his return to the big leagues Tuesday in impressive fashion, as he limited the Cardinals to one run on five hits and one walk over six innings while striking out six en route to his first win of the season. The southpaw should have a spot in the rotation locked down until at least one of the two starters currently on the injured list -- Merrill Kelly (shoulder) and Ryne Nelson (elbow) -- are cleared to return from the shelf. • Set for second rehab start Thursday
Megill (shoulder) is scheduled to make the second start of his minor-league rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Binghamton, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: On the shelf since April 1 with a right shoulder strain, Megill appears to be nearing the finish line of his recovery process after he began in his rehab assignment Saturday with High-A Brooklyn. Megill struck out six over two perfect innings with Brooklyn, but he'll move up a rung on the minor-league ladder and look to build up his pitch count to around 60 when he takes the mound again Thursday. After his upcoming outing with Binghamton, Megill will likely require one more rehab start beyond that before being deemed ready to rejoin the Mets rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 12:05 pm

  • Kicks off rehab assignment
Peterson (hip) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Single-A St. Lucie, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Peterson will likely be in store for a light workload as he begins his rehab assignment and makes his first appearance in affiliated ball Sept. 28, 2023. The southpaw, who underwent left hip surgery over the offseason, is on the Mets' 60-day injured list and is expected to be built up slowly over the next month before he's eligible for activation beginning May 27. Peterson's performance during the rehab assignment as well as the state of New York's rotation by late May will likely determine whether he takes back a starting spot upon his return or is eased back into the mix as a multi-inning reliever.
