    • Will Smith homers again as Dodgers top Brewers
Will Smith homered again on Saturday, powering the Dodgers to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Advice: After homering in each of his final three at-bats on Friday night, Smith left the yard in his fourth straight at-bat with his 369-foot (101.6 mph EV) two-run shot off of Freddy Peralta in the opening inning on Saturday. In doing so, he became just the third player in Dodgers’ history to homer in four straight at-bats, joining Adrian Gonzalez (2015) and Shawn Green (2002). That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night, but it played a significant role in propelling the Dodgers to victory. On the season, the 29-year-old backstop is now slashing .276/.348/.509 with 15 homers and 55 RBI. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Alex Vesia closes out Brewers on Saturday night
Alex Vesia picked up his fifth save of the season on Saturday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a two-run lead against the Brewers.

Advice: The Dodgers deployed Evan Phillips in the eighth inning to face the heart of the Brewers’ lineup with a one-run lead, and he served up a game-tying homer to Christian Yelich. The Dodgers answered right back with a pair of runs of their own though and Vesia came on to make sure that it stood up. He got Rhys Hoskins on a swinging third strike, Blake Perkins on foul out to first and Andruw Monasterio on a fly ball to left to end it. He has now converted five saves while registering a stellar 1.36 ERA in 39 2/3 innings. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

    • Homer, two hits in win
Buxton went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Astros.

Advice: Buxton singled and scored in the third inning and then hit a two-run homer in the seventh. Over the past 10 games, he has gone a ridiculous 16-for-37 with five long balls, 14 RBI and 13 runs scored. The 30-year-old is enjoying a solid bounceback season, slashing .271/.324/.485 with nine home runs, 37 RBI, 38 runs scored and five steals over 250 plate appearances. • George Springer reaches four times in victory
George Springer scored twice and reached four times against the Mariners on Saturday.

Advice: Springer played the role of leadoff man well Saturday while picking up a couple of knocks and a pair of free passes. The outfielder has been swinging the bat far more effectively recently, but this good run still has him hitting just .221/.313/.354. It’s more than understandable to be skeptical of success for Springer — at least in a fantasy role — for the second half of 2024. Rotoworld Today, 4:08 pm

    • Greene blanks DET over seven with seven strikeouts
Hunter Greene blanked the Tigers for seven innings but didn’t qualify for a decision Saturday.

Advice: Greene was outstanding. His bullpen was not. The right-hander left with a 2-0 lead but the Tigers pounced on the Cincinnati reliers to prevent him from picking up his deserved win. It was one of the most efficient outings for the 24-year-old that saw him throw 63-of-104 pitches for strikes while allowing just three hits. Greene has special talent, it’s just a matter of finding that efficiency on a more consistent basis. He’ll get the Rockies at home before the break. Rotoworld Today, 4:03 pm
    • Byron Buxton launches two-run homer in win
Byron Buxton went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored against the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Buxton knocked a base hit to lead off the third inning and scored on a two-run homer by Brooks Lee. He later extended the Twins’ lead with a two-run shot off Rafael Montero in the seventh inning. It was the ninth home run for the 30-year-old outfielder. He’s slashing .271/.324/.485 with 38 runs scored, 37 RBI, and five steals across 250 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:53 pm

    • Sitting versus southpaw
Soderstrom isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore.

Advice: Left-hander Cade Povich will start on the mound for the O's, forcing the lefty-hitting Soderstrom into the dugout to begin Saturday's contest. In his place, Armando Alvarez will start at first base and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Today, 11:10 am

    • Struggles continue Friday
Holmes blew his fifth save chance of the season in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning without striking out a batter.

Advice: With two outs in the ninth and the Yankees holding a 3-1 lead, Holmes gave up a single to Dominic Smith before leaving a sinker over the middle of the plate that Masataka Yoshida blasted to right field for a game-tying homer. Holmes has been tagged for runs in five of seven appearances since his last save June 9, stumbling to a 10.80 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 6.2 innings over that stretch despite an 8:0 K:BB. His spot as the Yankees' closer doesn't seem to be in jeopardy yet, but the 31-year-old will likely need to right the ship before the trade deadline if he doesn't want New York shopping for his replacement. • Pummels three homers
Smith went 3-for-3 with three solo home runs, two walks and four total runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Smith hit just two homers in June, so he's already off to a fantastic start in July. The catcher went to the opposite field for his first-inning blast before pulling his solo shots in the third and seventh innings. Smith is up to a .276/.349/.502 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 45 runs scored, 18 doubles and one triple over 73 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:24 pm
