The right-hander has not allowed a run since his first outing of the season May 7 and is a perfect 9-for-9 in converting save chances.       Paul Sewald pitched a clean ninth inning on Friday to earn the save.

      Advice: There must be something about the city of Philadelphia or Citizens Bank itself that just calms Sewald because he did on Friday what he did four times in the last NLCS: shut the Phillies down.       Foley struck out one over 1.1 innings to earn the save in a 2-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Foley was summoned to protect a 2-1 lead with two outs in the eighth inning and induced a groundout from Andrew Vaughn. He hit Paul DeJong with a pitch in the ninth but ended the game with a double play to earn his 13th save of the season. Foley has not allowed an earned run in seven June appearances and is now 13-for-15 in save chances with a 2.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB over 27 innings in 2024.     • Jason Foley closes out White Sox on Friday night
      Jason Foley recorded the final four outs against the White Sox on Friday night, protecting a one-run advantage to earn his 13th save of the season.

      Advice: Foley came on with the tying run on base with two outs in the eighth inning and got Andrew Vaughn to ground out to second base. He then returned for the ninth where he plunked Paul DeJong with one out in the inning to bring the go-ahead run to the plate again. Andrew Benintendi then lined out to center field and DeJong forgot how many outs there were, easily getting doubled off of first base to end the ballgame. On the season, Foley now sports a 2.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 22/9 K/BB ratio (26 1/3 innings) to go along with 13 saves in 15 opportunities. Rotoworld Friday, 5:56 pm

      Fairbanks (2-3) blew a save but earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on two hits over two innings against the Twins. He struck out one.

      Advice: Fairbanks was not needed to start the ninth due to the Rays holding a four-run lead, but a leadoff homer followed by the next two runners reaching base created a save situation. After inducing a couple of quick outs, Jose Miranda tagged Fairbanks for a game-tying homer that sent the game to extras. Once the Rays regained the lead in the 10th, Fairbanks stayed in to close out his own victory. The blown save was the second of the season for Fairbanks, who ran the gamut during the series with the Twins, suffering the loss Tuesday followed by the blown save and subsequent win Thursday.       Sewald allowed one hit and struck out one during a scoreless ninth to collect the save Thursday against the Nationals.

      Advice: Sewald collected his first save in two weeks, having tossed just 1.1 innings over two appearances during that span prior to Thursday. Despite the inactivity, Sewald needed only eight pitches, tossing six for strikes to thwart the Nationals.     • Pete Fairbanks (thumb) blows save, gets victory
      Pete Fairbanks (thumb) blew a save while allowing a run against the Twins on Thursday, but worked two innings to get the victory.

      Advice: Fairbanks entered the game with a couple of runners on and Tampa Bay holding a 6-3 cushion. He was able to get the first two outs, but then gave up a game-tying homer to Jose Miranda to blow the save. He was able to get the final three outs after the Rays scored in the 10th, however, so he gets the win. The right-hander missed a couple of days while dealing with a thumb injury, so the positive is he was back on the mound and does at least get a win.     • Paul Sewald hurls scoreless frame for save
      Paul Sewald allowed a hit and picked up a strikeout in a scoreless inning to get a save against the Nationals on Thursday.

      Advice: Sewald has been sensational since returning from the injured list, and the scoreless inning lowers his ERA to a miniscule 0.71. The right-hander also has collected eight saves and will continue to operate as the Diamondbacks closer throughout 2024. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:31 pm

      Bednar earned the save Wednesday against the Reds, pitching a perfect ninth inning to seal a 1-0 victory.

      Advice: It's the second straight hitless appearance from Bednar after he allowed home runs in each of his previous two outings. Still, the right-hander has been solid of late following a rocky start to the campaign, allowing just three runs in his last 17.1 innings.
