    • David Bednar strikes out two in scoreless inning
David Bednar struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: The Pirates plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to go up by four, putting a save situation out of reach for Bednar, who took over to close it out in the top of the ninth. He worked around a base hit, striking out two in a scoreless frame. The 29-year-old right-hander has been excellent after a slow start. He’s allowed just three runs over 17 1/3 innings since the start of May while converting eight of his 13 saves. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

    • Resting Saturday
Campusano isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday versus Arizona.

Advice: The Padres will give Campusano a day off following his three-hit performance Friday, during which he drove in two runs and scored another en route to a win. Kyle Higashioka will take over behind the dish and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:16 pm
    • Taking dry swings
Muncy (oblique) has begun taking dry swings and doing plyo-ball workouts, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: This is a step forward for Muncy, as he had previously been unable to swing a bat at all after continuing to experience soreness in his oblique. However, manager Dave Roberts said last week that the third baseman is on a "slow program," so Muncy doesn't appear to be particularly close to a return. He hasn't played in a game since May 15 and will likely need to go on a rehab assignment before rejoining the big-league club. Rotowire.com Today, 11:58 am

    • Counsell: Nico Hoerner has small fracture in hand
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday that Nico Hoerner has been diagnosed with a small fracture in his right hand.

Advice: Counsell added that team doctors are comfortable with Hoerner returning to action if the pain and swelling subside in his right hand. It sounds like the club is going to take a few additional days before making a decision on whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. • Diagnosed with hand fracture
Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Hoerner has a small fracture in his hand, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Counsell noted that the team's doctors are comfortable with Hoerner playing through his injury once the swelling subsides, and the Cubs will wait a few days to see how his hand recovers before deciding on a potential IL move. Meanwhile, David Bote figures to see regular action at second base while Hoerner is sidelined. Rotowire.com Today, 11:43 am

    • Sitting again Saturday
Hoerner (hand) isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Hoerner sat out Friday's game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch Thursday, and the issue seems to still be bothering him ahead of Saturday's contest. David Bote will start at second base and bat seventh while Hoerner recovers. Rotowire.com Today, 10:56 am

    • Nico Hoerner remains out Saturday with hand issue
Nico Hoerner (hand) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Additional X-rays on Hoerner’s hand were reportedly inconclusive on Friday after he had trouble gripping and swinging a bat. The 27-year-old was hit by a pitch during Thursday’s series opener and will sit out his second straight contest on Saturday afternoon. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment, but it wouldn’t be a total shock to see him land on the injured list at some point this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 10:39 am

    • Notches 13th save
Bednar earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Twins, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Bednar worked around a Byron Buxton one-out single to close out Pittsburgh's shutout victory, earning his 13th save this season. Bednar extended his scoreless streak to nine innings -- he's allowed just five hits and one walk in that span. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander sports a 5.47 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 26.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:34 am

    • Mason Miller nets first career victory on Friday
Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Friday against the Blue Jays to pick up his first win of the season.

Advice: Miller’s fastball velocity was down slightly in this one as he failed to touch triple-digits on three fastballs, but was still averaging a sizzling 99.4 mph in this one. He needed just 12 pitches to strike out a pair of batters in a flawless ninth inning before JJ Bleday delivered a walk-off homer in the bottom of the frame to give him his first win of the year. The hard-thrwoing 25-year-old former top prospect has blossomed into arguably the best reliever in baseball this season with 12 saves to go along with a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 54/11 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings (22 appearances).
