    • Tylor Megill lit up for six runs in loss to Cubs
Tylor Megill was shelled for six runs over three innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Megill’s fastball velocity was down noticeably in this outing, which undoubtedly led to him getting roughed up pretty good. Here’s an oversimplification: Megill leans havily on his four-seam fastball, so any time he’s below 95 mph, which was the case in this one, he’s going to get hit pretty hard. He surrendered five hits, including a gargantuan solo shot to Christopher Morel, and only managed to complete three frames. He struck out six and also issued three walks. He’ll bring an underwhelming 4.81 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 43/16 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing next Saturday against the Astros. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm

    • Alec Burleson homers, plates five in blowout win
Alec Burleson went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBI on Saturday, leading the Cardinals to a 9-4 blowout victory over the Giants.

Advice: Burleson also stole a base in this one, just for good measure. It was arguably a career day for the 25-year-old corner outfielder as he notched his first multi-homer performance in the big leagues by taking former teammate Jordan Hicks deep for a three-run shot in the fourth inning before tacking on a two-run blast off reliever Sean Hjelle a couple frames later. He’ll continue to play regularly against right-handed pitching and is quietly emerging as a potential 25-plus homer threat, which is pretty remarkable considering he looked like nothing more than a bench player last year in his full-season debut. • Miles Mikolas allows four runs in win over Giants
Miles Mikolas gave up four runs over six innings on Saturday in a win over the Giants.

Advice: Mikolas got in trouble right away in the opening frame when Jorge Soler and Michael Conforto delivered run-scoring singles as part of a three-run outburst. He managed to settle in afterwards, limiting San Francisco to just one run over his final five frames of work. He struck out three and only handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll bring an inflated 4.68 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 67/17 K/BB ratio across 90 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

    • Jordan Hicks coughs up two homers vs. Cardinals
Jordan Hicks was lit up for five runs over four innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Hicks was hit extremely hard by his former organization on Saturday afternoon in his return to Busch Stadium as he surrendered six hits, including homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Alec Burleson, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He finished with only one strikeout and also handed out a trio of free passes. The only positive here is that he surpassed his previous career-high single-season mark of 77 2/3 innings, which he set back in 2018, in this one. He’ll bring a solid 3.24 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 69/31 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Cubs. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

    • Homers, reaches three times in win
Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Alvarez opened the second inning with a 420-foot home run off Shota Imanaga then walked in the fourth and ninth frames. The homer was Alvarez's first since returning from a thumb injury June 11, and he has eight hits and five RBI during a modest four-game hitting streak. On the season, Alvarez is slashing .271/.319/.400 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 91 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:17 pm
    • Idle again
Naylor is out of the lineup Friday against Toronto.

Advice: Naylor will ride the pine for a second consecutive game, giving way to Austin Hedges behind the dish Friday. Naylor is 5-for-28 (.178) in his last nine games with a 36.7 percent strikeout rate during that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:23 pm

    • Three hits, three RBI in win
Donovan went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Donovan continued to rake Thursday, posting his fourth three-hit game of the campaign and his third multi-hit performance in his last four contests. The outfielder's two-run blast in the first inning gave the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead, while his two-out, RBI single in the fifth added what would prove to be a pivotal insurance run. Donovan is up to seven long balls on the season, with three coming this month and two coming over his last three games. He's batting .299 in June with 11 RBI and seven runs scored. • Brendan Donovan leads Cardinals to win over Giants
Brendan Donovan went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Thursday, powering the Cardinals to a 6-5 victory over the Giants at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Advice: Donovan served as the Cardinals’ primary offensive catalyst in this one as the Alabama native took Giants starter Keaton Winn deep in the opening frame for his seventh big fly of the season. He also plated a key insurance run with a fifth-inning RBI single against Giants lefty reliever Taylor Rogers. The three-hit effort raises his batting average to a solid .258 mark to go along with 33 runs scored, seven homers, 36 RBI and one steal over 69 games. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:08 pm

    • Knocks in three runs Wednesday
Higashioka went 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in a 5-2 win against Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Advice: Higashioka's bases-loaded triple in the eighth inning provided the winning margin for San Diego in the road victory. It was the first three-bagger of the catcher's career. Higashioka has just one hit over his past 12 at-bats, but prior to that he homered in three straight games, and he has racked up seven RBI through 10 games in June. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:26 am
