      Advice: King pitched very well in the outing, but San Diego wasn't able to put its second run on the board until the seventh frame, preventing him from picking up a second consecutive victory. The only run the right-hander allowed came on a third-inning homer by Jazz Chisholm. King has given up one or zero runs in three of his past five starts and has racked up a 34:8 K:BB across 30 innings over that span. He's tentatively slated to make his next start in Kansas City.     • Rehab start could come next week
      Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that there's a chance Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment as soon as the upcoming week, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Cole threw a live batting practice session Saturday without issue, marking the second time he's faced hitters since he resumed a throwing program. According to Erik Boland of Newsday, Cole utilized all of his pitches in the simulated game and reached 95 miles per hour on his fastball, a velocity limit the Yankees had imposed on him prior to the throwing session as a matter of precaution. Cole could be asked to throw another live BP, but beginning a rehab assignment also appears to be on the table. Cole will need multiple rehab starts before returning from the injured list and joining the Yankees rotation, so he's still a few weeks away from making his 2024 debut with the big club.       Rodon (6-2) earned the win Friday over the Padres, pitching six shutout innings while allowing three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

      Advice: Rodon wasn't dominant, but the Padres' offense didn't find much success. This was a fourth straight quality start for the southpaw, who has won all of those outings while allowing just five runs over 24.1 innings. Rodon has had just one bad start this season -- May 2 in Baltimore, when he got tagged for six earned runs over four innings. He has a 2.95 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB over 61 innings through 11 starts on the season. The 31-year-old is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Angels in a favorable matchup.       Carlos Rodón blanked the Padres over six innings to pick up a win Friday.

      Advice: This was far from Rodón at his most dominant, as the left-hander only struck out two batters. It was still an effective outing for the 31-year-old, as he allowed just three hits and eliminated any traffic that San Diego put up against the southpaw. Rodón has been much more effective in 2024 — a bit of faint praise considering his struggles in 2023 — and he’s lowered his ERA to 2.95 with these shutout frames.       Advice: Castillo dealt with traffic for most of his outing, but he ultimately held New York to a pair of solo home runs. The loss snapped a stretch of seven straight quality starts for Castillo -- he'd posted a 2.01 ERA in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 3.31 this season with a 1.21 WHIP and 69:18 K:BB over 65.1 innings. Castillo's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Astros in his next start.
