    • Mason Miller needs just seven pitches for save
Mason Miller struck out one in a clean ninth to get a save against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Miller “only” picked up one strikeout, but he also needed just seven pitches to get through the outing with five of those landing for strikes. The 25-year-old has locked down 14 saves for the A’s in 2024, and his ERA is a very healthy 2.08. The future is incredibly bright for Miller as long as he can stay on the field, but this version is pretty darn good, too. Rotoworld Friday, 9:09 pm
    • Works 4.2 innings
Silseth (elbow) allowed five earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two across 4.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Advice: The surface stats aren't encouraging for Silseth, but he built up to 92 pitches. The Angels were originally expected to activate him and insert him back into the rotation this past Wednesday against the Athletics, but the big club ultimately had him make one more tune-up outing in the minors. After another poor showing Friday, Silseth has now allowed 14 earned runs across 12.1 frames with Salt Lake. The underwhelming results could cause the Angels to reassess his role in the short term, as he might be activated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A once his 30-day rehab window draws to a close. • Carlos RodĂłn touched up by Braves
Carlos RodĂłn allowed seven earned runs on Friday against the Braves. They had 11 hits while RodĂłn struck out just three and walked two.

Advice: RodĂłn was never comfortable in this one. New York is in the midst of a massive heat wave and RodĂłn spent most of his time rubbing the ball for a better grip and wiping sweat from his face. His slider was all over the place, which could potentially be explained by poor grip. RodĂłn will look to right the ship next week in Toronto. Rotoworld Friday, 7:26 pm

    • Lands on injured list
Soriano was placed on the 15-day injured list with an abdomen infection Thursday.

Advice: Soriano was scratched from his start Monday and was expected to miss another turn through the rotation. It was originally anticipated that he would avoid the injured list, so it's unclear how long he may be sidelined. The move was retroactive to Monday, so Soriano will be eligible to return in early July. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:54 pm

    • Angels put JosĂ© Soriano (infection) on 15-day IL
Angels placed RHP José Soriano on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 17, with an abdominal infection.

Advice: So much for Angels manager Ron Washington’s proclamation that Soriano wouldn’t need a trip to the injured list. The 25-year-old righty was scratched from a scheduled start earlier this week due to abdominal pain and will require a couple weeks off to deal with an abdominal infection. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. It’s an unfortunate development for fantasy managers as he was set to face the Athletics early next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:50 pm

    • Earns eighth win
Allen (8-3) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks across six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Allen did not start off well, allowing a leadoff single to J.P. Crawford followed by a homer to Dylan Moore, but he allowed just one more run the rest of the way to earn his eighth win and complete his fifth quality start of the season. Allen, who also hit a batter on the day, continues to struggle with missing bats, having struck out just eight batters over the last three starts spanning 17 innings after having struck out 51 across 58.2 innings during his first 12 outings. Despite the dearth of strikeouts during this most recent stretch, Allen's ERA stands at 3.17 over the last three games as opposed to 5.83 during the 12 games prior. Things will not get easier for his next start as he's currently scheduled to take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:46 pm

    • Logan Allen produces Quality Start against Mariners
Logan Allen gave up three runs in six innings against the Mariners on Thursday while being credited with the victory.

Advice: Allen was far from dominant, as he walked four and struck out only two. He was still able to hold the Seattle offense (mostly) in check, particularly after giving up a two-run homer to Dylan Moore in the first. The 25-year-old’s ERA is inflated by two horrible outings in May, and he’s pitched much better than the 5.23 ERA he currently carries. If the rotation stays the same, Allen will face the Orioles on Thursday. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:39 pm

    • Cruises to fourth win
Cortes (4-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Orioles, allowing five hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Advice: The crafty lefty was at his baffling best, and the only runner Baltimore got past second base against Cortes came on an Austin Wells passed ball in the sixth inning. Cortes threw a season-high 105 pitches (64 strikes) in the outing, his first time in triple digits since April 20, while the quality start was his second straight and seventh of the campaign. He'll take a 3.36 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 86:18 K:BB through 93.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home this weekend against Atlanta. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:13 am

    • Secures save Tuesday
Miller struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Miller took a blown save in his last outing, though it was because he allowed an inherited runner to score. He's struggled a bit lately, allowing nine runs (six earned) with a 16:7 K:BB across 12.1 innings over his last 10 appearances. He's still performing quite well in the closer role for the Athletics, pitching to a 2.20 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB over 32.2 innings while going 13-for-15 in save chances this year.
