    • Jose Miranda hits game-tying homer in ninth
Jose Miranda blasted a three-run homer to tie the game in the ninth against the Rays.

Advice: With the Twins trailing 6-3 and two outs and two on in the ninth, Miranda came up huge with a three-run blast off Pete Fairbanks to send the game to extra innings. Unfortunately for Miranda and the Twins, they would still fall in the 10th. Miranda also hit a single, and the 25-year-old has hit a very respectable .280/.317/.477 over the first 74 games of 2024. • Carlos Santana homers, gets three hits in loss
Carlos Santana went 3-for-5 with a homer in a loss to the Rays on Thursday in extra-innings.

Advice: Santana’s homer made it 6-3 in the ninth, and Minnesota would score three more runs to take the game into extras before falling. The 38-year-old has gone deep 12 times, and while he hasn’t helped much in the average category (.247), he’s been a solid power-producer; particularly since scuffling over the first three weeks. • Simeon Woods Richardson limits Rays to two runs
Simeon Woods Richardson held the Rays to just two runs in his six innings of work, but he didn’t factor into the decision Thursday.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander struck out six while walking two and allowing four hits. Woods Richardson struggled in his previous outing against the A’s while allowing four runs in four innings, but this was much more like the version we’ve seen for the majority of 2024. Woods Richardson looks legit, and he’ll have another chance to do so against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago
    • Zack Littell allows two in no-decision vs. Twins
Zack Littell allowed two runs in five innings while not qualify for a decision Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Littell bounced back nicely from his disaster against Atlanta (two innings, six earned runs), but wasn’t able to get enough run support to factor in the decision. The right-hander scattered five hits and two walks while fanning five. One of the runs was a homer by the red-hot Royce Lewis, and the other a double off the bat of Kyle Farmer. Littell has mostly been solid as a starting option, and he’s scheduled to work again next week against the Mariners. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

    • Going on paternity leave
The Mets will place Torrens on the paternity leave list prior to Friday's game against the Cubs, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Advice: Torrens should miss the full three-game set in Chicago before rejoining the roster next Tuesday for the beginning of a homestand. Joe Hudson will take Torrens' roster spot. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago
    • Set for another rehab start
Gray (elbow) will make another rehab start for Triple-A Rochester next week, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gray was able to build up to 79 pitches over five innings during his latest rehab outing Wednesday, and the goal will be for him to get up to six innings or roughly 90 pitches. It's likely he makes his next minor-league start Tuesday, which could put him in line to return to Washington's rotation June 30 against the Rays. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago

    • Resting Thursday
Herrera isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Herrera will sit for the second game in a row Thursday despite going 8-for-18 with three RBI across his last five contests. Pedro Pages will instead start behind the plate and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 11:45 am

    • Dealing with neck spasms
Kepler exited Thursday's game against the Rays because of neck spasms, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kepler tweaked his neck while sliding into first base when he attempted to bunt for a hit in the first inning. He should be considered day-to-day for now, but the Twins could provide more information on Kepler's status after the game. Rotowire.com Today, 11:31 am

    • Officially promoted
The Cardinals recalled Kloffenstein from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Advice: After putting up a 3.97 ERA and 1.13 WHP through 77 innings at Triple-A, Kloffenstein will now come up from the minors to give St. Louis another multi-inning relief option in its bullpen. He'll take the place of Chris Roycroft, who was optioned to Memphis in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 11:12 am
