    Advice: Whitlock has been on the 15-day injured list with an oblique injury since April 17, but he doesn't appear to be nearing a return quite yet. Manager Alex Cora said Sunday that the right-hander is "feeling better" but he "still feels it" in regards to his left oblique strain, barring the 27-year-old from progressing with any mound work.   • Pitches into ninth versus Tampa Bay
    Fedde (2-0) earned the win after he pitched 8.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out nine batters in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Rays.

    Advice: Fedde tossed three scoreless innings before he surrendered a solo homer to Isaac Paredes in the top of the fourth frame. He later allowed another run in the top of the ninth when attempting to finish off the complete game, exiting with a runner on second and one out in the final inning. The 31-year-old has now recorded back-to-back quality starts while he's given up just three total runs over 22 innings in his last three outings.   • Anthony Rizzo hits 300th homer in Yankees’ rout
    Anthony Rizzo went 4-for-4 and hit his 300th career homer Sunday as the Yankees crushed the Brewers 15-5.

    Advice: Rizzo also walked. His homer, which was hit off Janson Junk, would have been out of Just 10 ballparks. It came in his 1,664th game since debuting with the Padres in 2011. He’s hit 57 in 307 games since arriving in New York. The formerly slumping Rizzo has six hits in two days and four homers in his last six games.   • Marcus Stroman can’t survive fifth versus Brewers
    Marcus Stroman yielded four runs and five walks in four-plus innings Sunday against the Brewers.

    Advice: Stroman kept pitching out of trouble early, but the fifth started with a walk, an infield single, an RBI double, a three-run homer and another walk before he was finally pulled. In all, Stroman allowed six hits, walked five and hit a batter. He seems pretty lucky to have a 3.69 ERA through six starts. Last year, he had a 3.95 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP with just nine homers allowed in 136 2/3 innings. His WHIP is 1.43 at the moment, and he’s given up five homers in 31 2/3 innings.     Making his second big-league start, Tobias Myers gave up four runs in five innings Sunday against the Yankees.

    Abner Uribe was charged with five runs while getting two outs Sunday against the Yankees.

    Advice: This inning never should have gotten started. After Uribe walked Aaron Judge, Alex Verdugo hit a routine double-play ball, except for the fact that Judge managed to deflect the relay with his oven mitt while going into second. It should have been interference, but the umpiring crew wouldn’t make the call. Uribe went on to get Giancarlo Stanton to pop out, but he just couldn’t get the third out from there. His ERA ballooned to 6.92. There’s little doubt that it will recover, but now that he’s down to third in line for saves in Milwaukee, there isn’t much reason to roster him in mixed leagues.     Anthony Volpe went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks Sunday against the Brewers.

    Advice: A much-improved game for Volpe, who came into the day 7-for-47 with no homers and a 16/1 K/BB ratio in his previous 11 games. The Yankees haven’t wavered on using him as a leadoff man, even though he’s mostly struggled since moving up two weeks into the season.     Jake Bauers went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and pitched a scoreless innings Sunday against the Yankees.

    Advice: Bauers was in the lineup for just one game of the series against his previous team, but he made the most of it, delivering a three-run blast off Marcus Stroman. He’s at .214/.267/.411 in 60 plate appearances. A reduced role is probably coming once Christian Yelich (back) returns, particularly since Yelich will probably spend more time DHing than usual.     Abbott (1-3) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven in Sunday's 4-3 defeat to the Rangers.

    Advice: Abbott struggled early, surrendering a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, including an inside-the-park homer to Wyatt Langford, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. The left-hander was able to settle down after the difficult first frame, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings to end his outing. Abbott entered Sunday having given up two or fewer runs in each of his five starts in 2024, but he'll now carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Orioles.
