  • Pablo López defeats Angels to improve to 2-2
    Pablo López picked up his second victory of the 2024 season on Sunday, limiting the Angels to four runs on four hits over his five innings of work.

    Advice: López punched out eight batters on the afternoon while allowing only one base on balls. He kept the Angels off the board completely through the first four innings, but they saddled him with four runs in the fifth — courtesy of home runs from Luis Rengifo and Nolan Schanuel. López generated 13 swings and misses on 87 pitches in the contest, posting a strong CSW of 29 percent. He now holds a 4.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 37/7 K/BB ratio over 31 2/3 innings through his first six starts on the season. He’ll do battle against the Red Sox his next time out at home on Saturday.     Turnbull will start Tuesday's game against the Angels, with Zack Wheeler getting moved back a day and Aaron Nola moved back to Friday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

    Advice: Manager Rob Thomson said that he wanted to give Wheeler and Nola the extra rest days, and that he's not inclined to go with a six-man rotation.     Advice: Stroman was able to survive four scoreless frames to open Sunday's outing before the wheels fell off in the bottom of the fifth. He allowed all five batters he faced in the inning to reach base, including a three-run home run by Jake Bauers, which knotted the game up at 4-4. The 32-year-old has now surrendered five total homers over his last four starts after not giving one up in either of his first two outings in 2024. Stroman now owns a 3.69 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 31.2 innings in six starts this season and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Friday home for a matchup against the Tigers.     Bryson Stott crushed a pair of two-run homers on Sunday, powering the Phillies to an 8-6 victory over the Padres.

    Advice: Stott opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 395-foot (105.7 mph EV) two-run shot off of Michael King in the second inning. He replicated that feat in the fourth inning — this time a 396-foot (103.9 mph EV) two-run shot off of King that gave the Phillies a 4-3 lead.
