  • Winn has two hits, RBI in win over Reds Sunday
    Masyn Winn went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Reds on Sunday.

  • Sitting versus lefty
    Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

    Advice: The 27-year-old's omission from the lineup is surprising since southpaw Andrew Heaney is taking the mound for Texas. Mountcastle has an .853 OPS versus lefties this season and was also held out of the lineup for Saturday's contest, so it's possible he's dealing with an injury or illness, though nothing has been reported at this point.   • Rockies jettison Montero off 40-man roster
    Rockies designated INF Elehuris Montero for assignment.

    Advice: Montero is removed from the 40-man roster as well as the active one with Elias Diaz coming off the injured list Sunday. Montero was ineffective to say the least in 2024 with a .205 average and .571 OPS while providing no defensive value whatsoever. It’s possible a team will put a claim in on Montero hoping to unlock his upside, but it’d be a mistake to do the same on fantasy rosters. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:26 am
     
  • Cast off 40-man roster
    The Rockies designated Montero for assignment Sunday.

    Advice: After popping 11 home runs in 307 plate appearances with the Rockies in 2023 and securing an everyday role coming out of camp this spring, Montero looked to be an attractive late-round target in drafts. Unfortunately for his fantasy managers, Montero quickly fell out of favor, and he didn't show any signs of improvements after regaining playing time once injuries began to pile up for the Rockies. Even with Kris Bryant (oblique) still stuck on the 10-day injured list, the Rockies didn't have room for Montero as a backup option at first base or designated hitter with the team needing to clear a spot for catcher Elias Diaz's (calf) return from the IL. The 25-year-old Montero, who had posted a .474 OPS in June and a .205/.267/.304 slash line over 247 plate appearances on the season, has no minor-league options remaining, so he would need to be carried on the 26-man active roster if another team trades for him or claims him off waivers.     Rengifo went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Tigers.

    Advice: Rengifo singled in his second trip to the plate before swiping his 21st bag of the season and later coming home to score the Angels' first run of the contest. The third baseman added another single in the seventh before coming around to score for a second time, giving him his fourth consecutive multi-hit game as well as his fourth straight game with at least one run scored. Rengifo has really come alive on offense as of late, batting .325 (13-for-40) over his last 10 contests with two homers, four RBI, three stolen bases and nine runs scored.   • Luis Rengifo collects 21st steal in Angels’ win
    Luis Rengifo went 2-for-5 with a stolen base on Saturday in the Angels’ extra-inning victory over the Tigers.

    Advice: Rengifo continues to excel as an extremely versatile under-the-radar fantasy contributor as he’s recorded a strong .808 OPS with six homers and 21 stolen bases through 66 games. The 21 thefts are a new career-high mark by a considerable margin as he’s running at a rate we certainly weren’t projecting coming into the year. He’s got a real shot at reaching the 40-steal plateau, which is unreal considering he he’s never stolen more than six bases over a full season since 2019. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:33 am
