    Davis went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in an extra-innings win over the Rockies on Thursday.

    Advice: Davis gave the Athletics' first rally a serious boost in the eighth inning when he left the yard with Seth Brown aboard and Oakland down by three. Half of Davis' four homers on the season have come in the last three games, and with hits in each of those contests, he's pushed his OPS (.618) to its highest point since May 8.   • Might lose roster spot
    Meneses could be optioned to Triple-A Rochester when Lane Thomas (knee) is ready to come off the injured list, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

    Advice: The 32-year-old has been an everyday player for the Nationals this season between first base and DH, but he's managed just a .234/.299/.299 slash line in 43 games with two homers and 24 RBI. Victor Robles is the more likely candidate to get booted from the 26-man roster to make room for Thomas, but Robles is out of minor-league options and would have to be exposed to waivers, while Meneses could be optioned to Triple-A without any risk of losing him.     Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the White Sox.

    Advice: Mountcastle recorded hits in each of his first four at-bats, marking only the second time this month in which he's scored two runs in a contest. The first baseman saw his batting average jump 16 points with his fourth multi-hit performance this month, though he hasn't driven in a run since May 8.     Candelario batted third and went 1-for-4 for with a walk, a triple, an RBI and a caught stealing in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Padres.

    Advice: Candelario tripled a run home in the first inning then was thrown out at home on a double-steal attempt to end the frame. He was later removed for a pinch runner in the 10th inning after he had walked. A recent hot stretch prompted a move up the batting order; Candelario has batted third or fourth in four straight contests.     Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Tigers.

    Advice: Guerrero went hitless in his first three at-bats before sending Danny Jansen to third with a double in the top of the eighth inning. The first baseman wasn't done there, however, adding a two-run homer in the following frame as the Blue Jays blew out the Tigers 9-1. It marked Guerrero's seventh multi-hit game this month, and he's batting .371 in May with two homers, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored. The long ball was his first since May 5 against the Nationals.     Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) was on the field Tuesday fielding groundballs, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Encarnacion-Strand's right hand remained in a protective cast while he fielded solely with his left (glove) hand. This was his first form of baseball activity since being diagnosed May 8 with a right ulnar styloid fracture on the inside of his hand near the wrist. The Reds still expect him back at some point in June, but a clearer timeline should emerge after Encarnacion-Strand undergoes a follow-up exam scheduled for June 5, the four-week mark of his projected 4-to-6 week recovery.   • Mountcastle has four-hit game Thursday
    Ryan Mountcastle went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored against the White Sox on Thursday.



    Advice: Mountcastle scored on Jorge Mateo’s three-run home run in the fourth inning and on an Adley Rutschman home run in the sixth inning. The four hits marked a nice bounce back game for Mountcastle, who had been slumping. The Orioles have a deep group of hitters to choose from, but he should stay in the lineup as long as he continues to hit.

  • Three hits in Thursday's win
    Brown went 3-for-6 with a double, a stolen base and three runs scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.

    Advice: Brown didn't get much of a chance to drive in runs Thursday -- the first three batters in the Athletics' order went a combined 2-for-16 with two walks. Brown made up for it by hitting well and serving as the spark to get the Oakland offense going. He also scored the winning run in a frantic 11th-inning comeback. The outfielder's three-hit effort marked his fifth straight game with at least one hit, a stretch that's raised his slash line to .206/.254/.357 for the year. He's added five home runs, three steals, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored over 134 plate appearances. Brown has often found a spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers, but there will be a bit more pressure for him to perform with Daz Cameron called up Thursday to add to the Athletics' outfield depth.   • Guerrero Jr. hits fifth home run Thursday
    Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Tigers on Thursday.

    Advice: Guerrero Jr. scored on a Justin Turner double in the eighth inning and then homered in a 7-1 game in the ninth. The home run was his fifth of the season and he now has 24 RBI. Guerrero Jr. is up to .282 with a .799 OPS this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:26 pm
