  • Brady Singer tagged for three homers in loss
    Brady Singer allowed three runs, all of them coming on solo homers, over six innings Sunday in a loss to the Dodgers.

    Advice: At least Singer got beaten by the best, giving up two homers to Shohei Ohtani and one to Freddie Freeman. Singer has opened June by surrendering 13 runs — 11 earned — in 15 1/3 innings. He’s a solid enough fantasy option with the Royals playing well, but he might prove droppable later this season. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
     
  • Shohei Ohtani homers twice in Dodgers’ win
    Shohei Ohtani launched his 18th and 19th homers of the year Sunday off the Royals’ Brady Singer in a 3-0 win.

    Advice: The Dodgers’ other run came on the second of back-to-back homers from Freddie Freeman in the sixth. Ohtani’s first homer today was crushed 451 feet to center. Ohtani had been slumping some of late, having come in at .216/.310/.412 in June. He’s still fifth in the majors in OPS (.976), sixth in average (.309), fourth in homers and tied for fifth in runs scored (53). Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
     
  • Picks up second save
    Pearson notched his second save of the season Sunday against Cleveland, retiring the only batter he faced to preserve a 7-6 lead.

    Advice: Pearson came on in the ninth inning with two outs and runners on the corners, inducing an Andres Gimenez line-out to end the game. Pearson came on to relieve Yimi Garcia, who was forced to leave the game early due to elbow soreness. While both Yimi Garcia and incumbent closer Jordan Romano (elbow) are sidelined, save chances will be available for Pearson and fellow relievers Chad Green and Tim Mayza. The 27-year-old Pearson has compiled a 4.23 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP across 27.2 innings, adding four holds and two saves. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
     
  • Josh Fleming goes four scoreless in return
    Josh Fleming, who was called up by the Pirates on Friday, pitched four scoreless innings in a start Sunday versus the Rockies.

    Advice: The Pirates could have used an opener today to give Fleming a shot at a win, but they decided not to. The victory instead went to Carmen Mlodzinski, who entered with a 1-0 lead after four and worked two hitless frames. Fleming came into the day with a 5.68 ERA in one start and 16 relief appearances for the Pirates. He’s not assured additional starts. Rotoworld Today, 3:24 pm

  • Dakota Hudson gets pulled in sixth versus Pirates
    Dakota Hudson yielded three runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Pirates.

    Advice: It was one-run through five, but the Pirates ended up totaling five runs against Hudson and Viktor Vodnik in the sixth, denying Hudson what would have been a fourth quality start in his last five tries. He fell to 2-9 with a 4.89 ERA. Rotoworld Today, 3:24 pm

  • Could be back Wednesday
    Cole (elbow) could be reinstated from the 60-day injured list to start Wednesday's game versus the Orioles at Yankee Stadium, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: The Yankees have confirmed Nestor Cortes and Luis Gil as their starting pitchers for games Tuesday and Thursday versus Baltimore, but a starter has yet to be made for Wednesday while the club weighs whether to activate Cole for his season debut, or to have him make another minor-league rehab start. While shifting his assignment from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Cole delivered a gem in his third rehab outing Friday, striking out 10 over 4.1 innings while allowing one unearned run on two hits and no walks. He tossed 70 pitches in the start, so Cole would likely have a slight cap on his workload if he were to rejoin the New York rotation Wednesday.     Cease (6-6) took the loss as he went 3.2 innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits and three walks Sunday versus the Mets.

    Advice: From the jump Cease just didn't have his best stuff on Sunday, he allowed the first four hitters to score after serving up homers to Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. The 28-year-old gave up a season-high seven runs in what was his shortest outing of the campaign. After pitching to a 2.19 ERA over his first eight starts, the righty has run into a rough patch giving up at least three runs in six of his last seven starts and seeing his ERA climb to 3.95 in the process.   • Dylan Cease chased early against Mets
    Dylan Cease allowed seven earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Mets. He struck out five, walked three, and was tagged with the loss.

    Advice: The Mets jumped all over Cease with a four-run first inning and sent him packing before he could finish four innings. His command was poor overall and he served up meatballs to Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso that found the seats. This was only the third time this season Cease did not complete at least five innings and it’s unlikely Sunday’s start becomes part of a larger trend. Rotoworld Today, 2:14 pm
     
  • Lively gives up four in loss to Blue Jays Sunday
    Ben Lively allowed four runs in four innings and got the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday.



    Advice: Lively gave up six hits, walked three and struck out four. He had won his last five starts. Lively had allowed two runs through the first four innings. He was removed after walking Spencer Horwitz and Davis Schneider to begin the fifth inning. Both runners scored on Daulton Varsho’s grand slam off Nick Sandlin. Lively isn’t as good as his 3.02 ERA suggests given his 4.15 xFIP. He’s benefited greatly from an 85 percent left on base percentage and that caught it up with him a little bit on Sunday. He’s still been a really good find off the waiver wire for fantasy managers. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Blue Jays at home next week.
