• Disastrous first rehab start
Boyle (back) started Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to the Rainiers on Thursday and allowed four earned runs on three hits and two walks without recording an out.

Advice: Boyle's final line encapsulates how forgettable his 26-pitch outing went, with the right-hander locating only half of those offerings for strikes before getting the hook. The one silver lining appears to be that Boyle didn't have any physical issues stemming from the outing, but given the on-field results, he'll almost certainly draw another start for the Aviators before activation is considered. • Goes yard in win
Santander went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-6 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Santander's homer was his eighth of the season and first since May 11. He's been battling a bruised knee over the last week, which could explain his 2-for-20 run at the plate over his last five games. The outfielder is slashing .206/.280/.424 with 27 RBI, 23 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 189 plate appearances. Aside from the knee issue and the occasional rest day, he's been a regular in the Orioles' lineup as the team's starter in right field. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago
  • Braves recall Ray Kerr for start Friday
Braves recalled LHP Ray Kerr from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Kerr will start Friday night’s game against the Pirates. The 29-year-old left-hander has a 2.89 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in four appearances out of the bullpen with Atlanta this season. The Braves need a fresh arm and while Kerr was optioned on Monday, he didn’t appear in any games for Gwinnett. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

  • On cusp of rehab assignment
Langford (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: The 22-year-old has been sidelined nearly three weeks by a strained hamstring but is in the latter stages of his rehab program. Assuming Langford is able to get in a couple games this weekend, he could rejoin the Rangers for the upcoming two-game series versus the Diamondbacks, which begins Tuesday. • Braves place Smith-Shawver (oblique) on IL
Braves placed RHP AJ Smith-Shawver (oblique) on the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Smith-Shawver has a strained left oblique muscle. He was just recalled and made his first start of the season for the Braves on Thursday. Smith-Shawver shutout the Cubs for 4 1/3 innings in his debut. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
  • Game-tying homer Thursday
Bleday went 1-for-6 with a game-tying two-run home run in an extra-innings win over the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Bleday stepped to the plate in the 11th with the Athletics already having cut a four-point inning-opening deficit in half, and he delivered with a 409-foot shot to center with Abraham Toro aboard to knot the score at 9-9. It was the second consecutive game in which Bleday left the yard, and the clutch homer also extended the outfielder's hitting streak to six games. Bleday has impressively laced 23 of his 44 hits for extra bases this season, and all three components of his .243/.315/.459 slash line are easily all career bests. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

  • Sent to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Williams to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Advice: The 27-year-old had his contract selected by Atlanta in mid-April, but he tallied just four plate appearances during his month with the big club. Joey Wendle was signed to a major-league contract Friday and is taking Williams' place on the roster. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
  • Gets MLB deal from Atlanta
Atlanta signed Wendle to a one-year contract Friday.

Advice: Wendle was released by the Mets earlier this week after hitting just .222/.243/.250 in 37 plate appearances but has quickly caught on with their division rivals. The utility infielder made the All-Star team with the Rays in 2021 but has produced just a .604 OPS in three seasons since then. Wendle will back up all over the infield in Atlanta. • Promoted, starting Friday
Atlanta recalled Kerr from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Friday's game at Pittsburgh.

Advice: The left-hander was optioned to Gwinnett following Monday's twin bill against the Padres but will be allowed to quickly rejoin the big club as AJ Smith-Shawver (oblique) lands on the injured list. Kerr's four appearances for Atlanta this season have all come out of the bullpen, but he's pitched well with a 2.89 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:0 K:BB across 9.1 innings. He threw 64 pitches over 3.1 frames in his last outing and figures to face some minor workload limitations since that was his longest outing of the campaign. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago
