    Advice: The Astros have decided that José Abreu’s pre-2023 track record matters more than McCormick’s impressive 2023 output and have thus started McCormick just twice in the last six games. We think that’s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but we’re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity.   • Hits grand slam off bench
    Adell hit a grand slam as a pinch hitter in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners.

    Advice: Adell erased a four-run deficit when he checked into the game in the seventh inning, replacing Matt Thaiss. The homer also ended a 1-for-31 dry spell for Adell, who went 11-for-43 (.256) prior to that slump. The outfielder is already at 11 homers on the year while adding 27 RBI, eight stolen bases, 24 runs scored, four doubles and a triple over 162 plate appearances.     Raley (lat) went 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Friday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

    Advice: Raley missed a game due to lat soreness, but it appears to be a minor issue. Prior to Friday, Raley went 1-for-19 over his previous seven contests while racking up 10 strikeouts in that span. He's been decent in 2024 with a .260/.297/.397 slash line, four home runs, five stolen bases, 12 RBI and 16 runs scored over 138 plate appearances.   • First to 20 homers in 2024
    Judge went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 6-2 win over the Giants.

    Advice: Judge ended May with a bang, earning his first multi-homer game of the year while reaching the 20-homer mark. He did a ton of damage to opposing pitchers this month, going 36-for-97 (.371) with 14 long balls, 12 doubles and 27 RBI over 28 contests.     Jo Adell hit a grand slam in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: You don’t see a ton of pinch-hit grand slams, but Adell was able to get one after coming off the bench and blistering a Tayler Saucedo sweeper into the left-field seats to tie the game at 4-4. The outfielder had been scuffling as of late, but the power didn’t go away.   • Aaron Judge homers twice in win over Giants
    Aaron Judge homered twice and drove in four runs in a 6-2 win for the Yankees over the Giants on Friday.

    Advice: This getting ridiculous. Judge is now all alone in eighth place in Yankees’ history with 277 homers; passing Jorge Posada. The slugger also singled for a three-hit day, and he’s up to 20 homers on the season. The month of May has been extremely kind to Judge.     Freeman went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Nationals.

    Advice: Freeman had been leading off over the last couple of weeks, but that should be done with Steven Kwan (hamstring) returning from the injured list Friday. Freeman was second in the order Friday against southpaw Patrick Corbin, but he'll likely bat lower against right-handers moving forward. Freeman's steal was his second in five games and his eighth of the campaign. He's still at a mediocre .223/.317/.354 slash line with four home runs, 22 RBI, 32 runs scored and 11 doubles over 203 plate appearances overall, but he's hit .295 (18-for-61) over his last 16 contests.     Advice: Felich reached five times Friday, and he also drove in a run. The 24-year-old has swung the bat well as of late, and this makes seven hits over his last five games to see his average rise to .266 from .242 in the process.     Varsho was unavailable for Friday's game against the Pirates due to food poisoning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Advice: Varsho's absence Friday shielded him from facing left-hander Bailey Falter, but the Blue Jays have now revealed they held the 27-year-old out due to illness rather than an unfavorable matchup.
