Povich (1-3) took the loss against the Athletics on Saturday, allowing eight runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one batter over one-plus inning.

Advice: Povich got another turn in the rotation after pitching to an acceptable 4.05 ERA despite a 17:10 K:BB over his first five big-league starts, but he was overwhelmed by the league's third-lowest-scoring team. Oakland rocked the southpaw for three runs before he got his first out on a pair of walks and a Brent Rooker three-run homer. Things got worse for Povich in the second frame, as he allowed five straight baserunners to reach -- and yielded another three-run blast -- before mercifully being pulled having failed to retire a batter in the inning. Povich's ERA shot up to 6.51 as a result of the disastrous outing. If he remains in the rotation, his next turn is tentatively lined up to be a tough matchup against the Yankees. • James Paxton pitches well in no-decision Saturday
James Paxton had to settle for a tough-luck no-decision on Saturday after limiting the Brewers to two runs on four hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 35-year-old southpaw walked two batters while striking out three on the day. The Brewers scratched out a run in the opening inning on a two-out RBI single by Willy Adames. Paxton then served up a solo homer to Rhys Hoskins in the fourth. The Big Maple got just five swings and misses on 83 pitches on the night, leading to an underwhelming CSW of just 19 percent. Paxton will look to finish the first half strong as he carries a 4.24 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 56/40 K/BB ratio (80 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Tigers in Detroit. • Cade Povich gets three outs, allows eight runs
Cade Povich allowed eight runs in one-plus innings in a loss to the Athletics on Saturday.

Advice: Yikes. Povich allowed a three-run homer in the first to Brent Rooker, and then was absolutely shellacked in the second frame while giving up another three-run blast to Max Schuemann and two more runs after he left the game. Again, yikes. Povich has shown some solid stuff at various times since being brought up, but if you need any evidence that the command is still a work in progress, see above. If he stays in the rotation, he’s lined up to face the Yankees on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 4:14 pm
    • Greene blanks DET over seven with seven strikeouts
Hunter Greene blanked the Tigers for seven innings but didn’t qualify for a decision Saturday.

Advice: Greene was outstanding. His bullpen was not. The right-hander left with a 2-0 lead but the Tigers pounced on the Cincinnati relievers to prevent him from picking up his deserved win. It was one of the most efficient outings for the 24-year-old that saw him throw 63-of-104 pitches for strikes while allowing just three hits. Greene has special talent, it’s just a matter of finding that efficiency on a more consistent basis. He’ll get the Rockies at home before the break. Rotoworld Today, 4:03 pm
    • Logan O’Hoppe drives in two runs Saturday
Logan O’Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored in the Angels’ 7-0 win against the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: O’Hoppe was hit by a pitch in the first inning, then knocked a base hit to drive in a run in the third before scoring on a throwing error. He was credited with another RBI on a groundout in the fourth, then reached for a third time with a double in the eighth. The 24-year-old backstop is slashing an excellent .279/.331/.473 with 12 homers and 40 RBI across 285 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:58 pm

    • Getting breather against LHP
Gimenez isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Advice: After going 3-for-3 with an RBI during Friday's loss, Gimenez will step out of the lineup Saturday against left-handed starter Kyle Harrison. Angel Martinez will fill the opening at second base and bat second. Rotowire.com Today, 11:57 am

    • Three hits in loss
Gimenez went 3-for-3 with one RBI in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Gimenez's RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, which was the last run of the game. The second baseman has found some consistency at the plate, going 10-for-31 (.323) over his last eight games, but he has just two extra-base hits in that span. For the year, he's at a .252/.307/.344 slash line with five homers, 14 stolen bases, 41 RBI, 42 runs scored, 12 doubles and one triple over 80 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 10:26 am

    • Absent from lineup Saturday
Bell is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Saturday marks Bell's first day off since June 24. He went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in the series opener Friday, and since his last day off, Bell has gone 4-for-39 with two RBI and 11 strikeouts. Jonah Bride will serve as the designated hitter Saturday and bat sixth against White Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet. Rotowire.com Today, 9:31 am

    • Getting breather Saturday
Morel isn't in the Cubs' lineup Saturday against the Angels.

Advice: Morel has put together a three-game hitting streak, though he has also struck out six times in 12 at-bats over that span. He'll take a day to rest Saturday while David Bote fills in at third base, batting eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 8:54 am
