    • Matthew Liberatore strikes out eight vs. Braves
Matthew Liberatore tossed six shutout innings with eight strikeouts in a win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Starting the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader, Liberatore was dominant against the Braves, keeping them scoreless over a season-high six innings. He scattered two hits and a walk, striking out a career-high eight batters on 14 swinging strikes. The 24-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 3.86 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 36/16 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings. He’ll likely revert back to a swingman role if he hasn’t earned himself another start in the rotation. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Bryce Elder tosses quality start in loss to Cards
Bryce Elder allowed two runs with four strikeouts across six innings in a loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Advice: Elder had worked through two clean innings and recorded the first two outs in the third before the Cardinals stringed together three straight hits to bring two runs in to score. He settled in for three more scoreless frames, ending with a four strikeouts in a quality start. The 25-year-old right-hander holds a 5.76 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and a 23/11 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

    • Carlos Carrasco allows two runs in no-decision
Carlos Carrasco allowed two earned runs in five innings Wednesday against the Orioles. He struck out three and walked two in a no-decision.

Advice: It wasn’t pretty, but Carrasco went toe-to-toe with Grayson Rodriguez and kept his Guardians in the game. He kept his fastball around 93 MPH, gave the Orioles a heavy diet of sliders, and kept every Oriole besides Gunnar Henderson off the board. He’ll get the White Sox in his next start. • Remaining on assignment
Manager Dave Martinez said Wednesday that Gray (elbow) will make one or two more rehab starts with Triple-A Rochester, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gray gave up one run in six innings during his most recent rehab start Tuesday, but the Nationals will keep him in the minors for at least one more outing before having him rejoin their rotation. Assuming he maintains a traditional four-day rest period between starts, Gray is lined up to make his next start Sunday and could then return to Washington on July 5. • Fans career-high 10 in win
Arrighetti (4-6) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings in a 7-1 victory over the Rockies. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.

Advice: The rookie right-hander put together the best effort of his brief career, setting a new career high in Ks while generating an eye-popping 35 called or swinging strikes among his 89 pitches. The quality start was only Arrighetti's second in 14 trips to the mound this season, but he has given up three runs or less in six of his last seven outings, posting a 4.18 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 32.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to build on this performance in his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 pm

    • Gets little help in loss
Feltner (1-7) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over six-plus innings as the Rockies fell 7-1 to the Astros. He struck out two.

Advice: The 27-year-old righty had a quality start going through six innings, but Feltner got sent back out for the seventh and gave up back-to-back singles before getting the hook, with both runners coming around to score in a four-run frame for Houston. It's the sixth time in his last eight outings that Feltner has been tagged for at least four earned runs, and on the season he carried a rough 6.02 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 75:23 K:BB through 86.2 innings. He lines up to make his next start at home at Coors Field early next week against the Brewers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:09 pm

    • Receiving start Wednesday
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wesneski will start Wednesday's game in San Francisco, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Wesneski has previously made three starts for the Cubs this season, though none have come since May 8. While he'll be available on four days' rest after having made his last relief appearance Friday, Wesneski probably isn't built up enough to handle a traditional starter's workload. The Cubs are likely to move Wesneski back to the bullpen following Wednesday's game, as he was merely added to the rotation this week to give left-hander Shota Imanaga an extra day of rest between starts. • Joey Estes strikes out eight in loss
Joey Estes was pulled after 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Angels and allowed two runs in a no-decision. He struck out a career-best eight batters and walked two in a loss.

Advice: Estes allowed just four base runners through his first five innings: back-to-back hits to start the game, a hit by pitch, and intentional walk. Then, he was pulled after a walk and single in the sixth inning and Austin Adams promptly imploded allowing five runs, two of which were charged to Estes. Otherwise, he mixed his four pitches well and can be a sneaky streamer against teams like the Angels. Rotoworld Today, 3:49 pm

    • Drawing another start
Knack is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Giants in San Francisco, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Due to an off days Thursday and next Monday, the Dodgers could have gotten by with a four-man rotation until next weekend, but Knack will earn another turn as Los Angeles' No. 5 starter coming off a solid showing in his return to the big club last week. After being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City last Friday, Knack tossed five scoreless innings while taking a no-decision against the Angels. Knack's stay in the rotation will likely last as long as Walker Buehler (hip) is on the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 3:49 pm
