• Tigers won’t bench Baez
The Tigers won’t bench shortstop Javier Baez.

Advice: “He’s going to play, a lot,” manager A.J. Hinch said. Baez has the lowest OPS (.422) among qualified hitters by nearly 100 points. The Tigers still owe Baez $72 million after this season. Something has to give at some point, but the Tigers will keep playing him for now. Rotoworld Today, 6:34 am
  • Back from paternity leave
The Guardians activated Hentges from the paternity leave list Thursday.

Advice: Hentges missed the series against the Rangers while tending to his growing family. He'll be back in the Guardians' bullpen for their weekend set versus the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 6:31 am
  • Fans eight in loss
Glasnow (6-2) took the loss against the Reds on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings.

Advice: Glasnow ran into trouble early, surrendering a leadoff homer to Will Benson to open the contest, along with an RBI double to Tyler Stephenson four batters later. The Reds would get to Glasnow again in the third and fifth innings, marking only the second time this season in which he's allowed four or more runs. The right-hander had logged four consecutive quality starts coming in and still carries a 3.32 ERA in May to go along with a 28:4 K:BB. He's also struck out at least eight batters in five straight outings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am
  • Poised for rehab assignment
Hall (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Wisconsin on Sunday.

Advice: Hall got through a two-inning simulated game Tuesday with no issues to clear the way for him to pitch in a rehab game. He's been sidelined for nearly a month with a left knee sprain, so Hall would figure to require at least a couple rehab outings before rejoining the Brewers' rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 6:28 am

  • Picks up first win
Martinez (1-2) earned the win over the Dodgers on Thursday, pitching five shutout innings in relief while allowing one hit and striking out four.

Advice: Martinez relieved Justin Wilson to open the bottom of the third and proceeded to retire 15 of the 16 batters he faced over his five innings of work. The veteran right-hander generated 12 swings and misses on the night en route to earning his first win of the season. Martinez has been outstanding in the relief role and now carries a 0.87 ERA to go along with a 9:2 K:BB through 10.1 innings in May (four appearances). Rotowire.com Today, 6:06 am
  • DL Hall (knee) set for rehab start
DL Hall (knee) is set to make his first minor league rehab start over the weekend.

Advice: Hall is scheduled to start for the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Sunday. Acquired in the trade with the Orioles for Corbin Burnes this past offseason, the 25-year-old left-hander has been on the injured list since late April with a left knee sprain. Rotoworld Today, 6:04 am

  • Two hits, two RBI in win
Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Stephenson produced runs on his first two plate appearances, singling in the first inning then doubling home the eventual game-winning run in the third. Both runs were scored by Elly De La Cruz, who had stolen bases prior to Stephenson's at-bat. He has multiple hits in three straight games, going 7-for-13 with three doubles, two RBI and three runs scored. A lack of production from the middle of the order early in the season prompted Reds manager David Bell to move Stephenson up. The catcher was in the lower-third to start the season but has slotted in anywhere from third to sixth over the last 13 starts. Rotowire.com Today, 6:01 am
  • Swats leadoff homer
Benson went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Benson homered to lead off the game, his second long ball in three games and sixth of the season. He's batted leadoff in all three contests, taking the spot normally reserved for TJ Friedl (thumb, IL), and hit safely in all three. It's been a rough start to the season for Benson, who's hitting .196/.290/.406 while striking out an alarming 40.1 percent of the time. Rotowire.com Today, 5:48 am
  • Makes third straight start
Capel started in left field and went 1-for-2 in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Capel made a third consecutive start -- all against right-handers -- and was eventually pinch hit for against a lefty reliever, the second time a teammate has pinch hit for him when a lefty reliever entered the game. Capel is 2-for-8 with a stolen base and a run scored over five appearances since having his contract selected May 7. His opportunities have increased due to injuries to TJ Friedl (thumb, IL), Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist, IL) and Jonathan India (migraine, day-to-day). Rotowire.com Today, 5:42 am
