    • Expects to be back when eligible
O'Neill (knee) said Friday that he expects to be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Wednesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: O'Neill was given a cortisone injection to combat inflammation in his right knee and said the shot has helped a lot. It would appear he's likely to skip a rehab assignment and return when his 10 days are up. O'Neill has just a .545 OPS and 43.9 percent strikeout in May after collecting a 1.127 OPS and 24.4 percent strikeout rate in April. Rotowire.com Today, 12:43 pm

    • Absent from lineup
Langeliers is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Langeliers will get a breather Friday after going 2-for-12 with a two-run home run during Oakland's three-game series with the Rays. Instead, Kyle McCann will bat sixth and fill in behind the dish. Rotowire.com Today, 12:37 pm
    • Back from IL, leading off Friday
Kwan (hamstring) was reinstated from the injured list and is starting in left field and batting leadoff Friday against the Nationals, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old has been sidelined nearly four weeks by a strained left hamstring, but he's back with the Guardians after a four-game rehab stint in the minors. Kwan was producing as one of the best leadoff hitters in baseball prior to the injury with three homers, three steals and a .353/.407/.496 slash line in 32 games. Rotowire.com Today, 11:42 am

    • Guardians activated OF Steven Kwan
Guardians activated OF Steven Kwan from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Kwan had been on the injured list since May 6th with a hamstring injury. He was hitting .353 with three home runs in 32 games before the injury. Rotoworld Today, 11:35 am

    • On verge of return
Kwan (hamstring) went 1-for-2 with an RBI, two walks, three runs scored and a stolen base in a rehab game with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: After two games with High-A Lake County, Kwan moved his rehab to Columbus earlier this week. He was on base three times Thursday in his second game with the team's top minor-league affiliate and added a steal for good measure, showing good confidence in his hamstring. The 26-year-old appears poised to return to the major-league lineup in the near future, possibly as soon as Friday against Washington, and will look to pick up where he left off before going down (.353/.407/.496). • Steals 17th bag
Young went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over Atlanta.

Advice: The 24-year-old center fielder has heated up again, batting .345 (10-for-29) over the last 10 games. Young remains limited as a fantasy asset -- he has yet to hit a homer this year and has a 4.5 percent walk rate -- but he tends to take full advantage when he does get on base. He's slashing .279/.338/.329 through 46 big-league games with 17 steals in 20 attempts, plus 14 RBI and 25 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 7:25 am

    • Lifts 12th homer Thursday
Langeliers went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run in an extra-innings loss to the Rays on Thursday.

Advice: Langeliers' 406-foot shot to left-center field in the third inning erased a 3-2 deficit as he left the yard for the second time in the last four games. The 26-year-old backstop's propensity for hard contact continues to serve fantasy managers well and make up for some of his other offensive deficiencies, and Langeliers carries a .768 OPS thanks to his 22 extra-base hits (eight doubles, two triples, 12 home runs). • Logan O’Hoppe hits solo homer in loss to Yankees
Logan O’Hoppe hit a solo homer in a loss to the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: O’Hoppe gave the Angels a 1-0 lead with a solo blast off Carlos Rodón in the fourth. The second-year backstop has gone deep seven times with a decent — if a bit boring — .259/.311/.429 slash in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:24 pm

    • IL stint expected to be brief
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that he's optimistic O'Neill's (knee) stay on the 10-day injured list will be a short one, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: O'Neill landed on the IL on Wednesday with right knee inflammation, an injury that he had been playing with for a while. While Cora didn't exactly commit to O'Neill requiring just the minimum 10-day absence, it does not appear he will be out long. He's eligible for activation June 5. Rob Refsnyder appears most likely to soak up the bulk of the playing time at designated hitter while O'Neill is out, although the Red Sox have Connor Wong at DH and Reese McGuire at catcher Thursday versus the Tigers.
