      Gray allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out three over three innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Gray was pitching on short rest after he made a relief appearance versus the Giants on Saturday, so it's not surprising this was a short outing for the veteran. He threw 36 of 65 pitches for strikes, and the lone run on his line was a Shohei Ohtani solo home run in the first inning. Gray is now at a 2.17 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 63:19 K:BB over 62.1 innings through 13 appearances (11 starts) this season. The right-hander should be getting back on a normal schedule moving forward, which puts him tentatively on track to make his next start in a favorable home matchup versus the Mets.       Soriano (4-5) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over eight-plus innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: This was the longest outing of Soriano's career, and it was a good one. He had plenty of run support early and pitched into the ninth inning, ending the start with 97 pitches (63 strikes). He's quickly becoming one of the Angels' most reliable starters, having covered at least six innings in five straight appearances. He's at a 3.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 60:28 K:BB through 72.1 innings over 14 appearances (12 starts) this year. The 25-year-old's strikeout numbers have taken a hit from where they were last year when he was a reliever, but there's still value in a pitcher that can eat innings.       Advice: Gray served up a solo homer to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning. He worked around a hit in the second and two baserunners in the third before his day was done after three innings at 65 pitches.       José Soriano allowed two runs with five strikeouts over eight innings in a win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

      Advice: Soriano was excellent on Wednesday, holding the D-Backs scoreless into the eighth inning before Christian Walker finally got to him with a solo homer. Soriano retuned for the ninth to attempt a complete game but gave up a leadoff single that would end his day. Though, the inherited runner would come in to score. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 60/28 K/BB ratio across 72 1/3 innings. He’s set to take on the Brewers in Anaheim on Tuesday.       Garrett (2-2) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings.

      Advice: Garrett was tagged by Harrison Bader for a two-run homer in the first inning, and he gave up three more runs in the second. The left-hander settled down a bit from there, but he was pulled with two outs in the fifth inning after serving up a solo shot to Starling Marte. It was the second straight start during which Garrett was unable to complete five frames -- he went just 2.2 innings versus Tampa Bay in his previous appearance. Garrett was great in back-to-back starts May 24 and 29, allowing just one run over 14 frames.       Advice: It was a rough night from the start, as Pivetta allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and surrendered two runs in each of the first and third innings. The four walks were a season high, and he allowed at least one baserunner in every inning. Pivetta has been inconsistent this season, with six starts of two or fewer earned runs and three starts yielding five.       Advice: Sanchez opened with three scoreless frames before allowing a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth, then he surrendered three straight hits to open the fifth and was pulled at just 67 pitches. All three inherited runners came around to score, marking the first time since April 29 that Sanchez yielded four runs or more in a start.       Advice: Pivetta walked four tonight. He’s issued 11 free passes in his last four starts after totaling two in his first five. Pivetta also struck out four tonight.     • Cristopher Sánchez pulled in fifth versus Boston
      Cristopher Sánchez was charged with four runs in four-plus innings Wednesday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: It was one run through four, but the Red Sox opened up the fifth with three straight singles, only one of them hard hit, and the decision was made to pull Sánchez. There’s a good argument that Sánchez deserves better at this point — he entered the game with a 2.71 ERA, and he had thrown just 67 pitches tonight — but the Phillies wanted to be aggressive with their bullpen usage tonight.
