      Hader picked up a save against the Twins on Saturday, striking out one batter over a scoreless inning.

      Advice: It was a relatively easy save chance for Hader, as he entered with a three-run lead. The southpaw had worked in a non-save situation in each of his previous three appearances, though he's clearly still in control of Houston's closer role. Hader has had a few rough outings this season but is 8-for-9 in save chances and has allowed just three earned runs and struck out 33 batters over his past 19.1 innings.     • Sent down after poor start
      Detmers (3-6) took the loss Saturday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks with three K's in 3.2 innings. He was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake after the start.

      Advice: Detmers started the season as one of the Angels' top starters and garnered wins in each of his first three starts, striking out 26 batters with two runs allowed across 17.1 innings. However, he hasn't gotten in the win column since and has yielded at least three runs in eight straight starts. Outside of a decent 8.9 K/9 across 40.1 innings, nothing has been working for Detmers lately, allowing 10 long balls and 20 walks over that stretch. The 24-year-old was a reliable arm for Los Angeles the past two seasons and it's possible that a Triple-A stint will help the southpaw regain some confidence and find his previous form.       Angels optioned LHP Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake.

      Advice: The 24-year-old southpaw was hit hard again in Saturday’s loss to the Mariners — giving up five runs over 3 2/3 innings — and that was apparently the last straw. Detmers has posted a miserable 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 70/27 K/BB ratio over 63 innings through 12 starts on the season. He’ll work to refine his craft at the Triple-A level before hopefully rejoining the Angels’ rotation later in the season.       Reid Detmers allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday.

      Advice: Detmers gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three. He continues to struggle as he’s now allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts. Detmers hasn’t won a game since winning his first three starts of the season. His ERA is now the worst it’s been all year at 6.14.     • Josh Hader fires scoreless inning for save vs. Twins
      Josh Hader worked a scoreless inning to get a save against the Twins on Saturday.

      Advice: Hader did allow a walk and didn’t strike anyone out, but he was able to escape without a run while picking up his eighth save of the season. The 30-year-old should continue to be one of the finest closing options for the remainder of 2024. Rotoworld Today, 5:01 pm
       
    • Trevor Megill (elbow) returns to action Saturday
      Trevor Megill (elbow) returned to action on Saturday and looked no worse for the wear, striking out all three batters that he faced in a scoreless inning against the White Sox.

      Advice: It wasn’t a save chance, as it was the seventh inning of a game where the Brewers trailed 3-1, but it was nice to see Megill look as dominant as ever after taking a scary line drive off of his arm during Monday’s game. He needed just 14 pitches (nine strikes) to dispatch of Zach Remillard, Tommy Pham and Korey Lee in order. Rotoworld Today, 3:15 pm
       
    • Yusei Kikuchi hit hard in loss to Pirates Saturday
      Yusei Kikuchi was hit hard in Saturday afternoon’s loss to the Pirates, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The 32-year-old southpaw struck out four batters on the afternoon while issuing one base on balls. The Pirates jumped on him for three runs in the opening inning, including a two-run blast off the bat of Ke’Bryan Hayes. Kikuchi then settled in until they scratched out two more in the fifth and another while chasing him in the sixth inning. He generated 12 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 3.66 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 65/14 K/BB ratio (66 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 2:55 pm

      Advice: Neck stiffness caused Donovan to be scratched from St. Louis' lineup before Friday's contest, and the issue seems to still be bothering him Saturday.
