    • Plays catch Wednesday
Jung (wrist) played catch on the field prior to Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Playing catch amounts to Jung's first known baseball activity since he underwent surgery April 2 to address a fractured right wrist. While being able to throw with his surgically repaired wrist is a step in the right direction, hitting high-velocity pitching will be the real test for Jung. He still looks to be a week or more away from doing that, as Rangers general manager Chris Young previously said that Jung is facing an 8-to-10-week recovery timeline after more damage to his wrist than expected was detected when surgery was performed, per MLB.com. Fantasy managers shouldn't bank on Jung returning from the IL until around early-to-mid June in a best-case scenario. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:44 pm

    • Day off Wednesday
Gorman isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Gorman will get a day to clear his head after striking out four times during Tuesday's win over the Halos. Brendan Donovan will fill in at the keystone Wednesday while Alec Burleson, Mike Siani and Lars Nootbaar start across the outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:44 pm

    • Josh Jung (wrist) fields grounders on Tuesday
Josh Jung (wrist) fielded grounders on Tuesday.

Advice: It’s a significant step forward in Jung’s recovery process nearly six weeks out from surgery to repair a fractured right wrist. The 26-year-old slugger is expected to be sidelined until at least late May or early June, barring any setbacks. The biggest variable for fantasy managers to monitor is how his power rebounds following his return since that tends to be an issue, historically speaking, for hitters coming off wrist surgery. • Homers off bench Friday
Gorman hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat during Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Gorman entered the game as a defensive replacement after the Brewers turned it into a rout, and his ninth-inning blast ended the 24-year-old's 0-for-14 skid to begin the month of May. The second baseman is slashing a meager .179/.262/.350 with five homers, 13 RBI, nine runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 130 plate appearances. Gorman began the year in a near-everyday role at the keystone, but he's now sat out against the last three southpaws the Cardinals have faced, with Jose Fermin picking up the playing time. Gorman had reverse splits last season and that has carried over into 2024, but he's simply not hitting well enough overall to justify a full-time role. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:35 pm

    • Sitting versus left-hander
Gorman is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest with the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Gorman will take a seat as left-hander Robert Gasser makes his major-league debut on the mound for Milwaukee. Jose Fermin will draw the start at second base in his place and bat leadoff against the Brewers. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:21 pm

    • Hits bench against lefty
Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Gorman will hit the bench for the third time in the four games while the Cardinals have faced a steady diet of left-handed pitching of late. The right-handed-hitting Jose Fermin will man the keystone while Gorman sits against Mets southpaw Jose Quintana. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:26 am

    • Mashes grand slam in win
Muncy went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Muncy quickly put the Dodgers ahead with a first-inning grand slam off of Edward Cabrera. It was his sixth career grand slam and fourth home run in his last three games, as he now has eight RBI over that span. Muncy is currently hitting .263, which is well above his career average, and overall is slashing .263/.370/.570 with nine homers, 26 RBI, 22 runs and a 19:40 BB:K in 138 plate appearances. • Max Muncy delivers grand slam in Dodgers’ win
Max Muncy went 2-for-4 and hit a grand slam Tuesday against the Marlins.

Advice: It was his sixth career slam and fourth homer in three games. A career .228 hitter, Munch is at .263 right now, even though his strikeout rate is higher than usual and his exit velocity numbers are pretty typical. He’ll surely continue to put up excellent power numbers, but one should probably expect an average around .220 the rest of the way. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:56 pm

    • Out against lefty
Gorman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

Advice: The Cardinals are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (Sean Manaea) for the second day in a row, so the lefty-hitting Gorman will once again head to the bench. Jose Fermin will fill in for Gorman at second base. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:44 pm
