    • Jake Burger leads Marlins past Diamondbacks
      Jake Burger smacked a two-run single in the seventh inning on Saturday, helping to lead the Marlins to a 3-1 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

      Advice: The two sides entered the seventh inning embattled in a scoreless tie, until Bryan De La Cruz plated a run with a fielder’s choice. Burger then followed with a two-run knock off of Kevin Ginkel that extended the Marlins’ lead to 3-0. That would prove to be more than enough for Ryan Weathers and company in this one. The 28-year-old slugger finished the afternoon 1-for-4 plus a walk and is now hitting .195/.234/.320 with four homers and 19 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:51 pm

      Advice: Burger hit .250 with 34 home runs last year. With the three hits on Saturday, his average is up to a paltry .194 on the season. While Burger doesn’t have a track record outside of last season, his career BABIP is .282 and his BABIP this year is much lower at .217. Burger is even striking out at a much lower rate this year with a 22 percent strikeout percentage compared to his career 28 percent strikeout percentage.       Advice: Another bullpen meltdown wasted a big night from the Mets' offense, as Alonso's seventh-inning solo shot off Nick Avila was New York's third homer of the game. The first baseman extended his hitting streak to nine games, and over the last 15 contests Alonso is slashing .313/.362/.609 with four of his 12 homers on the season and 10 of his 26 RBI.       Advice: Burger shellacked a solo homer off Zac Gallen to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead. The 28-year-old has dealt with injuries in 2024 and hasn’t been successful even when on the field (.175/.211/.300), but he was one of the best infielders in baseball in the second half of 2024.       Advice: Alonso opened the scoring in the first inning, sending a fastball from Triston McKenzie into the right-field seats for his 11th homer of the year. The 29-year-old Alonso has put together an eight-game hitting streak while going 18-for-59 (.305) with three homers and a .936 OPS in his last 14 contests.       Josh Bell went 2-for-4 with a game-winning RBI single on Monday, leading the Marlins to a 3-2 walk-off victory over the Brewers in a 10-inning marathon.

      Advice: Bell sent the Marlins faithful home in winning fashion with a sharp ground-ball single to right field in the 10th inning after Miami rallied in the previous frame to send the contest to extra innings.
