• Fractures hand at Triple-A
Madrigal suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a pitch during a game with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register reports. He was placed on the 7-day injured list.

Advice: Madrigal was playing in his first game with Iowa after being optioned there earlier this week. It's not clear at this juncture how much time he might miss, but he certainly he won't be an option to rejoin the Cubs for several weeks. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:45 pm

  • In Thursday's lineup
Morel (foot) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Thursday against the Reds.

Advice: Morel was taken out of Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he appears to be feeling well enough to return to the Cubs' lineup without a day off. The 24-year-old has posted just a .203 batting average so far this season, but he has been heating up recently, going 6-for-19 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored across his last six games. • José Ramírez homers, drives in two against Royals
José Ramírez homered and drove in two runs in a loss Thursday to the Royals.

Advice: J-Ram took Brady Singer deep for his 17th homer of the season. He also drove in a run with an infield single. The 31-year-old has been outstanding in 2024 with 60 RBI, nine stolen bases and an .887 OPS. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:12 pm

  • Day off
LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Twins.

Advice: LeMahieu has now started seven of nine games since his return from the injured list but has gone just 4-for-22 with no extra-base hits during that stretch. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the call at third base for the Yankees on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:22 pm

  • Royce Lewis not in Thursday’s lineup vs. Yankees
Royce Lewis is out of the starting lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Yankees.

Advice: It’s just a routine day off for the 25-year-old who’s working his way back from a pretty major quad injury. Lewis has homered in each of his first two games back and looks primed to put up major fantasy value for the remainder of the season if he can just remain healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:58 am

  • Sitting down Thursday
Lewis isn't in the Twins' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Lewis will get a breather Thursday after hitting a home run in each of his first two games since returning from the injured list Tuesday. Jose Miranda will take over at the hot corner, allowing Carlos Santana to start at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:09 am

  • Not starting versus lefty
Rojas is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rojas will exit the starting nine while the Athletics bring southpaw JP Sears to the hill. Dylan Moore started at second base in Seattle's last two games but will shift over to third base Thursday while Rojas takes a seat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:05 am

  • Back to bench Thursday
Davis is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Davis had started at first base in both of the Athletics' previous two matchups with right-handed pitchers, going 2-for-7 with a pair of singles. Though the Mariners are bringing another righty (Bryan Woo) to the hill for Thursday's series finale, Davis will cede his spot in the lineup to Tyler Soderstrom. The Athletics could elect to rotate Davis, Soderstrom and Aledmys Diaz at first base until one of the three begins performing well enough to take control of an everyday role. • Tyler Freeman gets a day off on Thursday
Tyler Freeman is not in the Guardians’ lineup on Thursday against the Royals.

Advice: It’s just a routine day off for the 25-year-old who continues to start regularly in center field for the Guardians. Freeman has moved back down in the lineup with both Stevan Kwan and Andres Gimenez back, which will hurt his counting stats, but he does have five home runs and eight steals on the year, so he remains valuable in deeper formats.
