  • Chris Bassitt strikes out seven in win
    Chris Bassitt struck out seven across five innings in a 5-4 win over the Pirates on Sunday. He allowed three earned runs and walked one while securing the win.

    Advice: Bassitt was able to navigate nine Pirates base runners to keep just enough runs off the board and earn his sixth win of the season. This was his third straight win in as many starts as he’s put a poor April in the rear view mirror and pitched much more like the ultra-steady Bassitt we’ve come to expect.   • Quinn Priester hit hard, loses again
    Quinn Priester allowed four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Blue Jays. He struck out three and surrendered eight hits in a loss.

    Advice: Nothing Priester did fooled the Blue Jays in this one as they had 12 hard-hit balls and were on everything. Priester is yet to be effective as a major league pitcher and will need to find some way to complement his fantastic slider in order to do so. The loss was his fifth of the season without a win.   • Enoli Paredes gets first save of the season
    Enoli Paredes recorded the save on Sunday after throwing two scoreless innings in a win over the White Sox.

    Advice: Paredes threw the eighth inning when the score was 4-3 Milwaukee, but the Brewers tacked on two additional runs in the bottom of the 8th, so Pat Murphy decided to keep Paredes in to finish the job. It was his first save of the season, and he should not be considered a threat to Trevor Megill’s job. However, Paredes was outstanding in Triple-A and has yet to allow a run since being recalled, so he could be a solid ratio asset in deeper fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:01 pm
     
  • Nastrini struggles in loss to Brewers
    Nick Nastrini allowed four runs on three hits and three walks in four innings in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.

    Advice: Nastrini threw first-pitch strikes to just six of the 18 batters he faced and struggled to locate any of his pitches other than the slider. He did get six whiffs on 23 swings on the slider, but that was the only pitch he had working. The rookie now has a 9.74 ERA and remains off the fantasy radar, even next week against the Red Sox.   • Jake Diekman blows save
    Jake Diekman allowed two runs on Sunday to blow the save for the Mets against the Diamondbacks. He recorded just one out.

    Advice: Diekman was called upon for the save as the Mets continue to shuffle their closer role in the wake of Edwin Díaz’s struggles and recent injury. Ketel Marte took the lefty Diekman deep as a right-handed batter, his better side of the plate, as he did the same to left-handed starter José Quintana in the first inning. It’s hard to know who will get the next save chance in New York, but it likely won’t be Diekman. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:46 pm
     
  • Andrew Heaney stifles Marlins in win on Sunday
    Andrew Heaney threw six shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

    Advice: The left-hander allowed just four hits and struck out seven while walking none. Heaney leaned heavily on his slider and change-up, getting a 42 percent whiff rate or higher on both pitches despite not throwing either one in the zone more than 40 percent of the time. It may have mainly been about who he was facing, but fantasy managers with Heaney won’t complain. The let-hander now has a 3.99 ERA on the year and could keep it going next week in a decent start against the Giants. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:43 pm
     
  • Trevor Rogers goes six innings in loss to Rangers
    Trevor Rogers allowed four runs on six hits in six innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

    Advice: It wasn’t an awful outing for Rogers, who allowed three runs on four hits in the first inning before settling down. He threw four straight scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, before giving up a solo home run to Adolis Garcia in the sixth inning. On the day, Rogers had 12 whiffs on 44 swings for a 27 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. The left-hander has a 5.68 ERA on the year but could be an interesting streamer in deeper leagues against the Guardians next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:34 pm
     
  • Charlie Morton effective but wild in no-decision
    Charlie Morton held the Athletics scoreless over six innings on Sunday. He allowed just one hit along with five walks and six strikeouts in a no-decision.

    Advice: Poor command pushed Morton’s pitch count up in what was otherwise a fantastic outing. This was the sixth straight start in which Morton decreased the usage of his fastball and Sunday marked a season-low at 15%. In turn, he turned to more changeups which the Athletics couldn’t square up, but Morton also struggled to find the zone with it at times.   • Pirates recall Priester to start Sunday vs. TOR
    Pirates recalled RHP Quinn Priester from Triple-A Indianapolis.

    Advice: Priester will get the ball as expected to take the rotation spot of Martin Perez, with Perez on the injured list due to a groin strain. Priester has registered a 4.33 ERA and 17/10 K/BB over his 27 innings across five starts. There’s some long-term upside in his right arm, but fantasy managers shouldn’t rush out to add him to their roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:28 am
