• Resumes throwing
Williams (elbow) resumed throwing Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Williams was cleared by doctors to restart his throwing program Wednesday, and manager Stephen Vogt said the 24-year-old righty was able to get through his throwing session Thursday without any pain. Williams still has a long way to go in his rehab process, but he is certainly trending in the right direction after suffering a setback during a sim game April 20. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Struggles in Baltimore
Rodon (2-2) took the loss Thursday against the Orioles, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over four innings. He struck out six.

Advice: After shutting out Baltimore through the first two innings, Rodon allowed three solo home runs between the third and fourth innings before the O's put up a four spot in the fifth, forcing the Yankees to turn to the bullpen. It's a deflating effort from Rodon, who'd allowed just one run over 13 innings in his previous two starts. His ERA is up to 3.68 on the season with a 1.28 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB in seven starts. Rodon will look to bounce back in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against the Astros. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

  • Slated for rehab assignment
Javier (neck) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada didn't specify exactly when Javier's first rehab appearance will be, nor did he say how long the 27-year-old right-hander will remain in the minors. However, there had been speculation that Javier would be able to avoid a rehab assignment completely, so he may only need to make one start before returning to an Astros rotation that has already dealt with numerous injuries this season. • Edward Cabrera whiffs nine, allows four vs. Rockies
Edward Cabrera allowed four runs in four innings while fanning nine against the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Cabrera pitched better than this line suggests, but a three-run homer by Jacob Stallings turned a strong outing into a mediocre one. The right-hander did have command issues, however, as he walked four and threw 56-of-91 pitches for strikes. Still, an encouraging outing that showed off the 26-year-old’s swing-and-miss potential. He still shouldn’t be used next week against the Dodgers. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

  • Kyle Harrison holds Red Sox to one in no-decision
Kyle Harrison went five innings while allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: It wasn’t always easy for Harrison despite the strong line. The left-hander didn’t find the strike zone on a consistent basis, as he issued five walks with 57-of-95 pitches counting for strikes. Still, the 22-year-old was able to work around those free passes thanks in large part to those aforementioned strikeouts, and he’s allowed just one run over his last two starts. Harrison will take a 3.79 ERA into a matchup with the Rockies. Just keep in mind that takes place in Colorado. Rotoworld Today, 2:16 pm

  • Adrian Houser allows four over five vs. Cubs
Adrian Houser allowed four runs in five innings of work in a no-decision Thursday against the Cubs.

Advice: Houser gave up four hits, and he also issued four free passes with two strikeouts before leaving. The right-hander was a smidgen better then his awful start Saturday against the Cardinals (six runs in 4 1/3 innings), but it’s still an ineffective outing that sees his ERA sit at an unideal 8.16 ERA. He’ll have a chance to lower that number in a rematch with St. Louis next week. Rotoworld Today, 2:11 pm

  • Ben Brown allows two runs, walks five against Mets
Ben Brown allowed two runs with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings while not factoring into the decision Thursday against the Mets.

Advice: Brown did miss some bats Thursday, but he also caused a lot of batters not to swing with five walks. The right-hander was still able to keep the Mets off the board until the fifth, but that inning unraveled with a pair coming across before he exited. Brown has shown flashes of brilliance in his rookie campaign, and even this mediocre outing had moments that suggested a bright future. He’s back on the bump against the Padres next week. • Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to Rangers
Mitchell Parker allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Parker got into trouble in the third inning when he gave up a trio of run-scoring hits, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He struck out five and only issued a pair of walks. The 24-year-old rookie right-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four consecutive outings since getting the call to the majors back on April 15, but he’s struggled to work deep into contests. He’ll bring a respectable 2.53 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 19/4 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings (four starts) into a tough home outing on Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 2:09 pm

  • Solid in season debut
Bradish did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Bradish had to contend with some traffic Thursday, though he'd ultimately hold the Yankees to one run on Anthony Rizzo's two-out RBI single in the third inning. Overall, it was an encouraging debut from Bradish after he'd missed the first month of the season with a partially torn UCL -- he averaged 95 MPH with his sinker while inducing six whiffs on his slider, both in line with his numbers from last year. It remains to be seen if the Orioles will allow Bradish to work deeper into the game in his next start. He's currently scheduled for a road matchup with the Nationals. Rotowire.com Today, 2:07 pm
