It paid off immediately when Walker belted a three-run homer off a four-seamer in the first inning to give Arizona a 3-0 lead. "I've been missing fastballs [and fouling them] straight back a little bit and it's been bothering me," Walker said. He followed that up a solo shot in the third -- a slider this time. For the season, he's at a .302/.381/.488 slash line with 10 home runs, 42 RBI, 26 runs scored, 15 doubles and no stolen bases, and his 9.0 percent walk rate is double his previous career high, which was in a 39-game sample as a rookie in 2011.       Advice: Steer recorded his 12th steal in 65 games, putting him on pace to surpass the 15 he had over 156 games in 2023. Speed was not a hallmark to his game in the minors, but the running Reds have changed that. On an unrelated note, the team received news that first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand is mulling season-ending wrist surgery.
