    • Locks down save Tuesday
Pressly struck two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Advice: Pressly was called upon to close the game with Josh Hader unavailable after working the previous two days. The 35-year-old got Patrick Bailey to fly out before recording back-to-back punchouts to seal the deal. He now has two saves in the last week, though Tuesday's outing also comes on the heels of a blown save Sunday. Despite holding a 5.19 ERA on the year, it seems as though Pressly still has the advantage over Bryan Abreu for save opportunities when Hader is unavailable to pitch. • Hangs on for save
Bednar picked up the save Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing a solo home run and a walk with two strikeouts during the ninth inning.

Advice: Bednar took the mound with the Pirates ahead by two and yielded a homer to Nolan Gorman to kick off the ninth. While he retired Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan back-to-back, Bednar walked Jose Fermin and a catcher's interference put runners on first and second. However, Bednar avoided disaster, striking out Mike Siani to complete his 14th save. Although he owns a 5.40 ERA, Bednar ranks eighth in saves and owns a 30:7 K:BB across 28.1 innings. • Ryan Pressley gets second save for Astros
Ryan Pressly worked a scoreless ninth with a two-run lead for his second save Tuesday against the Giants.

Advice: Pressly unsurprisingly got the nod over Bryan Abreu with Josh Hader unavailable after working the previous two days. Pressly has been used as the Astros’ eighth-inning guy throughout, even though, with his 5.19 ERA, he’s been noticeably less effective than Abreu. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:26 pm

    • Bednar gives up homer, earns 14th save vs. Cards
David Bednar allowed one earned run while picking up the save in Tuesday’s win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Bednar earned his 14th save on the season in this one, but it didn’t come easy. After giving up a leadoff homer to Nolan Gorman to kick off the ninth, Bednar would later walk José Fermin with two outs before a catcher’s interference put Iván Herrera on base. Bednar would strike out Michael Siani to end the game, but it was yet another rough outing for Bednar, who is sporting a 5.40 ERA on the year. He’s hard to trust in fantasy, but Bednar will continue to earn save opportunities in a Pirates bullpen that has underwhelmed in 2024. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:22 pm
    • David Bednar strikes out two in scoreless inning
David Bednar struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: The Pirates plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to go up by four, putting a save situation out of reach for Bednar, who took over to close it out in the top of the ninth. He worked around a base hit, striking out two in a scoreless frame. The 29-year-old right-hander has been excellent after a slow start. He’s allowed just three runs over 17 1/3 innings since the start of May while converting eight of his 13 saves. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:00 pm
    • Notches 13th save
Bednar earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Twins, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Bednar worked around a Byron Buxton one-out single to close out Pittsburgh's shutout victory, earning his 13th save this season. Bednar extended his scoreless streak to nine innings -- he's allowed just five hits and one walk in that span. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander sports a 5.47 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 26.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:34 am
    • Bednar picks up 13th save Friday
David Bednar tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: The save was Bednar’s 13th of the season. He blew three of his first four save opportunities this season, but since then he’s converted on 12 consecutive save chances. After a rough beginning to the season, he looks like one of the more reliable closers in the league. Rotoworld Friday, 6:10 pm
    • Grabs first save
Pressly struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: This was Pressly's first save of the season to go with seven holds and four blown saves. Regular closer Josh Hader had pitched three of the last five days, including Monday, which likely led to the decision to give Pressly the ninth inning in Tuesday's win. Over his previous nine outings, Pressly had been tagged for six runs (five earned) over 8.2 innings. He's had a rough campaign with a 5.01 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB over 23.1 innings after Hader's offseason arrival bumped Pressly into a setup role through no fault of his own. • Grabs 12th save
Bednar delivered a perfect ninth inning against the Dodgers on Tuesday to earn the save in a 1-0 victory.

Advice: It's the seventh straight scoreless appearance for Bednar, who's allowed just one run over his last 10.1 innings. After a rocky start to the year, Bednar's lowered his ERA to 5.92 with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 24.1 innings while going 12-for-15 in save opportunities. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:56 pm
