• Starting at second base Monday
Merrifield will start at second base and bat eighth in Monday's contest against the Giants.

Advice: Merrifield's playing time with the Phillies this season has been sparse, but he could see increased reps at second base over the next several weeks on days Bryson Stott slides over to shortstop to cover for the injured Trea Turner (hamstring). The 35-year-old has been solid in 2024 in his limited chances, putting up a .724 OPS with two home runs and three stolen bases across 53 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Merrifield starting at 2B for Phillies on Monday
Whit Merrifield will start at second base for the Phillies on Monday against the Giants.

Advice: Bryson Stott will slide to shortstop to accommodate Merrifield in the starting lineup against a right-handed pitcher. In the first two games without Trea Turner, the Phillies turned to Edmundo Sosa at shortstop and allowed Stott to remain at second base, but Sosa went 2-for-9 in those games, so the team may be looking to see what else can work. Stott didn’t play any shortstop last year with Turner in Philadelphia, but he did play 658 innings there in 2022 and graded out slightly below average. If the Phillies feel that he can handle shortstop again, that could mean extra at-bats for Merrifield, who hasn’t been great to start his career in Philadelphia. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

  • Resumes drills
Jones (back) did throwing and running drills ahead of Saturday's game against the Pirates, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones had been shut down for a few days since landing on the injured list Tuesday. Manager Bud Black acknowledged that Jones is progressing each day, and the current expectation is that he will be able to return by mid-May. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • Logs two hits, steals base Sunday
Tucker went 2-for-3 with a a double and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to Cleveland.

Advice: The Angels' offense was stagnant in the contest, but Tucker wasn't at fault -- he was the only player on the team with multiple hits, and he also knocked one of the club's three extra-base hits. The 2014 first-round draft pick added a stolen base in the fifth inning, giving him three thefts in only five games this season. Tucker isn't locked into an everyday role, but he's been productive when given the opportunity, slashing .417/.462/.583 through 13 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 8:30 am
  • Swats homer Sunday
Judge went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in Sunday's 5-2 victory versus Detroit.

Advice: A day after he was ejected from a game for the first time in his career, Judge belted a solo shot off Tarik Skubal in his first at-bat of the contest. The slugger added a sixth-inning double to notch just his second game with multiple extra-base hits this season. Judge is still slashing a meager .220/.350/.439 on the campaign, but he's batting .355 with three of his seven homers and seven of his 20 RBI over his past nine games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:22 am
  • Good step in rehab assignment
Lowe (hamstring) went 3-for-8 with two home runs in consecutive rehab appearances for Triple-A Durham on Saturday and Sunday.

Advice: Since resuming his rehab appearance with Durham on May, Lowe had gone 3-for-14 with seven strikeouts prior to Saturday's game, when he slugged both of his home runs. His ability to hit for power was a positive sign, though he did strike out four times between Saturday and Sunday. Nevertheless, Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Lowe's results were a step in the right direction, per MLB.com. Lowe could be a candidate to return from the 10-day injured list during the Rays' upcoming series with the White Sox that begins Monday. Rotowire.com Today, 8:02 am

  • Provides lone run in loss
Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Ozuna was the only Atlanta player with multiple hits as well as the only one with an extra-base hit in Sunday's loss. He took James Paxton deep to right center in the seventh for his first long ball since April 21. He's now back tied atop the leaderboard with 10 home runs on the year and leads all of baseball with 33 RBI. Ozuna is slashing .306/.382/.603 with 16 extra-base hits, 21 runs and a 15:27 BB:K in 136 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 am
  • Starting to hit for power
Arozarena went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base Sunday against the Mets.

Advice: Arozarena took Edwin Diaz yard in the ninth inning to tie the game, tallying his fifth home run of the season and second in his last three starts. He also swiped his fifth base of the year and has yet to be caught. It's been an ugly start to the season for Arozarena, and even with this burst of power, he has failed to record multiple hits in a game since March 30. The slow start has been the result of some bad luck -- he has a .165 BABIP -- but he's also struck out at an elevated 29.8 percent clip across 141 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:30 am
  • Leaves yard in Sunday's win
Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Hernandez homered for the second time in three games and has tallied at least a hit in 10-of-12 games since April 23. The 31-year-old is slashing .252/.320/.468 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 23 runs and a 13:49 BB:K in 153 plate appearances. Hernandez is showing increased signs of power from a year ago but strikeouts still remain an issue. His 49 strikeouts are currently the fourth-most in baseball, as he's striking out 32 percent of the time. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 am
