• Josh Rojas stays hot with homer vs. Diamondbacks
Josh Rojas hit a solo homer and scored twice against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: Rojas has hit in the leadoff spot against right-handers with JP Crawford out of the lineup, and so far it’s worked quite well. He hit a leadoff homer off Zac Gallen in the bottom of the first, and he also drew a walk. The 29-year-old is slashing an outstanding .316/.391/.509 for the first month of the year, and at the very least is someone fantasy managers need to monitor. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Kevin Newman connects on solo homer in loss
Kevin Newman hit a solo homer in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Newman was responsible for the only run for the Diamondbacks with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The 30-year-old is still hitting a lackluster .186/.205/.372, and there just aren’t enough nights like this one to consider him as a viable fantasy option. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Joey Ortiz homers, singles home game winner
Joey Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI to help the Brewers to a 7-6 win over the Yankees on Friday.

Advice: The homer was the first MLB shot for Ortiz, and it came off Luis Gil in the second inning with a runner on. On top of that honor, the 25-year-old came up clutch with an RBI single in the 11th inning to give the Brewers the victory. Ortiz has held his own in his first year as a member of the Milwaukee infield with a slash of .264/.355/.377, but he’s more of a long-term play than someone fantasy managers should rush to add. • X-rays negative
X-rays on Diaz's hand came back negative Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Diaz had to leave Friday's game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch during the eighth inning, but it seems he escaped the incident without suffering any significant damage. He may still step out of the lineup for a game or two to avoid playing with any lingering pain, but an extended absence isn't likely. Rotowire.com Today, 7:43 pm

  • Michael Busch goes 3-for-4 in Cubs’ victory
Michael Busch went 3-for-4 with a double and a sac fly against the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: Busch didn’t hit the ball very well tonight, but he hit it to all of the right spots. His double, which barely qualified as a hard-hit ball at 95.1 mph, would have been an out if not for the Green Monster. One of his other hits was a dribbler down the third base line that just would not go foul. Busch will take it; he came into this one 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts in his previous four games. • Exits after HBP
Diaz was removed from Friday's game against the White Sox after getting hit by a pitch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Diaz took a 99-mph fastball off his hand during the eighth inning of Friday's contest and was immediately replaced on the bases. He will presumably undergo imaging, and the Rays should offer an update on his status sometime after the game. Rotowire.com Today, 7:07 pm

  • Yandy Díaz leaves game after hit by pitch (hand)
Yandy Díaz was removed from Friday’s game against the Rays after being drilled in the left hand by a pitch from White Sox’ closer Michael Kopech.

Advice: Díaz was the unfortunate victim of a 99.3 mph fastball from Kopech that caught him square on the hand. He’ll head for X-rays to determine if there are any fractures. All fantasy managers can do for now is wait and hope for the best. Expect Rays’ skipper Kevin Cash to provide an update after the game concludes. Rotoworld Today, 7:04 pm

  • Padres option Matthew Batten back to Triple-A
Padres optioned INF Matthew Batten to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: With Manny Machado returning from the paternity list on Friday night, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and it would appear as though Batten drew the short straw this time. The 28-year-old is just 1-for-3 (.333) with a single in his limited time with the Padres this season. Rotoworld Today, 5:05 pm

  • Junior Caminero (quad) considered day-to-day
Morgan Ensberg, the manager at Triple-A Durham, told reporters on Friday that top prospect Junior Caminero is considered day-to-day after tweaking his quad on Thursday.

Advice: Caminero was lifted from Thursday’s game in the third inning after sustaining the injury. Ensberg explained that he wasn’t going to put Caminero in any jeopardy, so he pulled him as a precaution. The 20-year-old phenom ran and did defensive work without issue on Friday but was getting another night off just to be on the safe side. He could be used off the bench in Friday’s game and should return to the starting lineup on Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 4:50 pm
