    • Erick Fedde hurls six strong in victory over ARI
Erick Fedde went six innings while allowing two runs to get a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Fedde did allow eight hits, but he didn’t put anyone on via walk while striking out six. The right-hander gave up runs in the first and fifth inning and he was able to avoid the big inning for another strong outing for the 31-year-old. The White Sox have been a disaster, but Fedde has been an absolute bright spot with a 3.09 ERA through 87 1/3 innings. He’s scheduled to take on the Tigers on Friday. • Lasts four innings Saturday
Criswell allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: The Red Sox jumped out to a quick lead, but Criswell didn't pitch deep enough to qualify for the win. He needed 88 pitches (55 strikes) to complete his four frames, making this the seventh time in 12 appearances (11 starts) he's failed to complete five innings. The 27-year-old has a 4.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 49:13 K:BB over 52 innings this season. Criswell is tentatively projected to make his next appearance on the road versus the Reds. • Cooper Criswell strikes out six in no-decision
Cooper Criswell pitched decently in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits over four frames against the Yankees.

Advice: On the plus side, the 27-year-old right-hander punched out six batters on the night while allowing two free passes. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning on a two-run single off the bat of DJ LeMahieu. Criswell got nine whiffs on 88 pitches on the night, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll carry a 4.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 49/13 K/BB ratio (52 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Reds in Cincinnati. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:32 pm

    • Kodai Senga (shoulder) throws bullpen on Saturday
Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw around 30 pitches in a successful two-inning bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: He’ll throw another bullpen early next week and if all goes well with that session, it sounds like Senga will finally be cleared to face live hitters. He’s still going to need several minor league rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Mets’ rotation, but he’s at least taking small steps in the right direction. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:01 pm

    • Tosses bullpen session
Senga (shoulder/triceps) threw a two-inning bullpen session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Senga was able to throw more than 30 pitches in the session and he's expected to throw a shorter one next week. The right-hander has been slowly working his way back from a posterior right capsule strain and then a subsequent triceps injury, and he's yet to make his season debut. Senga has already been ruled out for the first half of the season, but if he can build on Saturday's session next week, he'll remain on track to return relatively soon following the All-Star break. • Jared Koenig to open for Brewers on Saturday
Jared Koenig will start on Saturday against the Reds.

Advice: Koenig will take the ball as Milwaukee’s opener before turning things over the Bryse Wilson for a bulk relief appearance. The 30-year-old has been outstanding this season with a microscopic 1.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 26/6 K/BB ratio across 31 1/3 innings (22 appearances, four starts). He hasn’t given up a run in 11 consecutive appearances dating back to May 17. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:00 am

    • Will open Saturday's game
Koenig will serve as the Brewers' opening pitcher in Saturday's game against the Reds, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: It's a familiar role for Koenig, who hasn't been scored upon in 4.1 innings as an opener this season. He's expected to be followed Saturday by Bryse Wilson in bulk relief. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:46 am

    • Could rejoin rotation next week
The Yankees are expected to decide this weekend whether Cole (elbow) will need another rehab start or if he's ready to return from the 60-day injured list, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Cole was dominant in his third rehab start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, pitching 4.1 innings during which he allowed an unearned run on two hits and no walks while striking out 10 batters. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner tossed 70 pitches in the outing, so he'd likely have his workload managed to some extent if his next trip to the mound is with the big club. If it's determined that Cole needs another rehab start, it would be for ramp-up reasons rather than due to effectiveness -- he's dominated minor leaguers in his three appearances, posting a 19:0 K:BB while allowing just one earned run over 12.1 frames. Should Cole next move back into the Yankees' rotation, his season debut could come during the team's three-game set versus Baltimore next week. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:23 am

    • Serves up homer
Bednar allowed one earned run on one hit while striking out one Friday against the Rockies.

Advice: Bednar was called upon to preserve a 5-1 lead in the ninth inning. He retired the first two batters he faced without issue but then served up a solo home run to Charlie Blackmon. Bednar has now given up a home run in consecutive appearances, though the Pirates still won on both occasions. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:09 am
