    • Jordan Westburg homers as leadoff man
Batting leadoff for the first time, Jordan Westburg went 2-for-5 with a homer versus the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Advice: Manager Brandon Hyde indicated before the game that this wasn’t a permanent move. Westburg, though, has a case for hitting high in the order regularly. He’s batting .301/.354/.534 with seven homers and five steals in 159 plate appearances. Prior to today, he had hit third once but never higher than fifth otherwise. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

    • Elly De La Cruz sits for first time this season
Elly De La Cruz is absent from the Reds lineup Wednesday for the first time this season.

Advice: No word of any injury, and we’re going to assume this was a planned day off. Spencer Steer got one yesterday, and he also had been in the lineup every game this season. The Reds have Santiago Espinal at shortstop today. Rotoworld Today, 10:20 am
    • Receives first day off
De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Arizona.

Advice: For the first time all season, De La Cruz will exit the starting nine for what looks to be a routine maintenance day before the Reds continue their road trip Thursday in Los Angeles. Santiago Espinal will step in at shortstop in place of De La Cruz, who has slowed down a bit at the plate of late with two hits and six strikeouts in 14 at-bats over his last three games. • Moves up to leadoff spot
Westburg will start at third base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Westburg will occupy the top spot in the batting order for the first time in his big-league career. Normal leadoff man Gunnar Henderson will shift down to the cleanup spot while Toronto brings in left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. Rotowire.com Today, 8:02 am

    • Mashes fifth homer
Olson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Cubs.

Advice: After hitting the ball hard most of the early part of the season with little to show for it, Olson got rewarded for his efforts Tuesday, driving in his first run with a first-inning double that had an exit velocity of 105.2 mph before he belted a three-run bomb off Jameson Taillon in the fourth that left his bat at 108.2 mph. Over the last eight games, Olson is batting .310 (9-for-29) with two of his five homers on the season as he gets back into his 2023 form. Rotowire.com Today, 1:22 am

    • Slugs fifth homer
Jimenez went 3-for-7 with a walk, a double and a solo home run across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader split with the Nationals.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger took Trevor Williams deep in the second inning of the matinee, the first homer the Washington right-hander has served up in 2024. Jimenez could be heating up after a quiet start to the season -- over the last seven games, he's gone 7-for-27 (.259) with three doubles and a homer. Tuesday's RBI was his first since May 5, though, and through 30 contests he's slashing just .221/.276/.389 with five home runs and 12 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 12:28 am

    • Matt Olson has two hits, HR in win over Cubs
Matt Olson went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in a win over the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: Olson took a fourth-inning pitch from Jameson Taillon and clobbered it 432 feet at 108.2 mph off the bat. He also had a 105.2 mph double in his first at-bat of the game. It hasn’t been the best start to the season for the slugger, but he’s still barreling the ball an impressive amount pulling the ball more than ever, and swinging and missing only a little bit more than normal. His zone contact is the highest it’s been since 2021, so both the power and batting average should be coming shortly. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:46 pm

    • On bench Tuesday
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: The left-handed Carpenter will avoid a matchup with southpaw Ryan Weathers on Tuesday, as Wenceel Perez, Matt Vierling and Mark Canha will start across the outfield. Carpenter has hit safely in five straight games, batting 7-for-18 (.389) with two homers and five runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:05 pm

    • Could return Friday
Rengifo (illness) fielded grounders Monday and could return from the injured list when eligible Friday, per MLB.com.

Advice: Rengifo came down with a viral infection in early May and landed on the IL when the illness caused painful blisters on his feet. His ability to take grounders Monday is a good indication that he's doing better, and there's a chance he could spend the minimum amount of time on the injured list. Upon his return, Rengifo should slide back into a starting role at third base -- Niko Goodrum, Luis Guillorme and Cole Tucker have been filling in at the hot corner in his stead.
