Garver has also reached safely in six consecutive games, perhaps a sign he's finally beginning work himself out of the extended slump that's defined the first month-plus of his tenure in Seattle. Rooker has hit safely in six of the last seven games, batting .462 (12-for-26) with three doubles, four long balls, 10 runs, 11 RBI and a strong 5:5 BB:K. Soderstrom's power is legit -- he has two 20-homer campaigns in the minors, and he'd clubbed seven long balls in 27 games for Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his promotion Wednesday -- but Oakland prefers Shea Langeliers' defense behind the plate, and the team's 1B/DH situation is crowded. Langeliers' eight RBI were the most ever by an Oakland player in a doubleheader, breaking the record of seven set by Reggie Jackson in 1969. Langeliers has produced multiple hits with a homer in three of his last four games, but the surge has only brought his batting average up to .209 (24-for-115). The 26-year-old infielder has been productive of late, slashing .297/.422/.541 over the last 12 games with a homer, five RBI and nine runs, but his 6:14 BB:K during that stretch -- not to mention his .373 BABIP on the season -- suggests regression is coming for his batting average.
