    • Headed for MRI
Grissom, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a right hamstring strain, is slated to undergo an MRI, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. "We're not there yet," manager Alex Cora said, when asked about a timeline for Grissom's return. "He feels like it wasn't as bad as in spring training. But he's getting imaging so we'll know."

Advice: Grissom's upcoming MRI should shed light on the severity of the hamstring strain he sustained in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Tigers. As Cora notes, Grissom was previously slowed by a left groin/hamstring injury in spring training, which prevented the 23-year-old from making his Red Sox debut until May 3. For whatever length of time Grissom is sidelined this time around, Enmanuel Valdez is likely to serve as the Red Sox's primary second baseman against right-handed pitching, while Jamie Westbrook should be the main option at the keystone versus lefties. • Red Sox place Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) on IL
Red Sox placed INF Vaughn Grissom on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Grissom injured the hamstring during the second inning of Saturday’s game, and it was expected that the 23-year-old would need a stint on the injured list. There’s no word on when Grissom will be back, but for now, Bobby Dalbec is up from Triple-A to take his place on the roster. Rotoworld Sunday, 8:41 am

    • Moves to IL
The Red Sox placed Grissom (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Advice: Though the right hamstring strain that forced Grissom out of Saturday's 6-3 win over the Tigers is considered mild, he'll still need at least a week and a half to make a full recovery from the injury before rejoining Boston's 26-man active roster. The Red Sox selected the contract of Jamie Westbrook from Triple-A Worcester to bolster the team's depth in the middle infield in the short term, but Enmanuel Valdez and David Hamilton may be more likely options to pick up starts at second base while Grissom is on the mend. • Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) likely heading to IL
Red Sox manager Alex Cora acknowledged after Saturday’s victory over the Tigers that Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) is likely heading to the injured list.

Advice: Just how long he’ll remain there is still up in the air though. The 23-year-old infielder suffered a right hamstring strain during the second inning of Saturday’s contest — the severity of which is not yet known. Expect Enmanuel Valdez to see increased action in the Red Sox’ infield while Grissom is shelved. Rotoworld Saturday, 5:51 pm

    • Likely to hit IL
Grissom has a mild right hamstring strain and is expected to be placed on the injured list, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reported Saturday.

Advice: Grissom was removed from Saturday's game against the Tigers in the third inning after slowing up and grabbing his right hamstring running to first on a groundout. While it's not the same hamstring that sidelined him at the start of the year, Saturday's injury will likely require an IL stint. While Grissom is sidelined, expect Romy Gonzalez, David Hamilton and Ceddanne Rafaela to see plenty of work in the middle infield. Rotowire.com Saturday, 3:52 pm

    • Vaughn Grissom diagnosed with hamstring strain
Vaughn Grissom was pulled from Saturday’s contest against the Tigers in the third inning due to a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Grissom missed plenty of action at the start of the 2024 season due to a left hamstring strain, so same issue but different leg. The severity of the strain — as well as how much time he may stand to miss — are not yet known. Connor Wong replaced him at second base on Saturday but obviously wouldn’t be a long-term option there if Grissom is forced to miss extended time. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:43 pm

    • Exits early Saturday
Grissom was removed from Saturday's contest with the Tigers in the top of the third inning due to a right hamstring strain, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Advice: Grissom grounded out in the bottom of the second inning and was replaced by Connor Wong at second base. He missed the first month of the season with a left hamstring strain. The Red Sox will close out its series against Detroit on Sunday before getting a day off Monday. Expect more information regarding Grissom's injury after Saturday's game. • Vaughn Grissom leaves game with apparent injury
Vaughn Grissom was removed from Saturday’s battle against the Tigers in the third inning with an apparent injury.

Advice: It looked like the 23-year-old infielder may have tweaked something while running out a ground ball in the second inning. He was then replaced defensively at second base by Connor Wong when the Red Sox took the field to begin the third inning. Expect the team to provide an update on his status shortly. • Tommy Edman (wrist) takes BP left-handed Friday
Tommy Edman (wrist) was able to take batting practice from the left side of the plate for the first time on Friday.

Advice: Edman is already eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list, but he’s still not close to being ready. The fact that he’s now able to face live pitching from both sides of the plate though is an encouraging sign and perhaps a minor league rehab assignment could be in the cards soon. He’s going to need plenty of at-bats there before he’s ready to join the Cardinals though and there’s no guarantee that he’ll even be ready before the end of June. Rotoworld Friday, 1:44 pm
