    • Logan Webb settles for no-decision against Cubs
Logan Webb allowed two runs over seven innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Webb coughed up a two-run homer to Dansby Swanson in the second inning on Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field, but managed to keep Chicago’s potent lineup off the scoreboard into the late stages of this one. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The 27-year-old righty has completed six frames in eight consecutive starts since May 10. He’ll bring a solid 2.99 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 82/21 K/BB ratio across 99 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a rematch on Monday against the Cubs back at Oracle Park. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago
    • Quality start in no-decision
Webb did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Cubs, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Webb collected his third consecutive quality start and 12th of the season with a solid 101-pitch outing. The San Francisco ace's only blemish of the game came in the second inning when he allowed a 401-foot two-run home run to Dansby Swanson. With this outing, Webb pushed his ERA down to 2.99 over 99.1 innings this year. He'll look to eclipse the 100-inning threshold for the fourth consecutive season in his next start, currently slated come against the Cardinals on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:09 pm
    • Nestor Cortes blanks O’s for six innings in win
Nestor Cortes pitched six scoreless innings while striking out six to earn the win on Tuesday against the Orioles.

Advice: Cortes needed 25 pitches to get through the first inning, thanks in part to back-to-back singles by Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle. He would eventually settle in to pitch six scoreless innings without walking a batter. The five hits Cortes allowed all came on singles as he did everything within reason to hold a powerful Orioles lineup in check. Cortes has been feisty at home all season and draws another home start on Sunday against the Braves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:16 pm
    • Yankees transfer Clarke Schmidt to 60-day IL
Yankees transferred RHP Clarke Schmidt to the 60-dau injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed regarding Schmidt’s return timetable as the procedural move merely opens up a spot on New York’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a right lat strain and is first-eligible to return on July 26. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:16 pm

    • Moves to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Schmidt (lat) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The Yankees announced Schmidt would be shut down from throwing for 4-to-6 weeks once they placed him on the IL on May 30, so his move to the 60-day IL hardly comes as a surprise. He will be eligible for activation from the injured list July 26, but a better idea of his return timeline will have to wait until he's been cleared to throw again. • Defeated by Dodgers on Monday
Quantrill (6-5) took the loss against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Quantrill came into the contest having tossed back-to-back scoreless starts, but he wasn't able to maintain that level of sharpness Monday. The right-hander fell behind 3-0 through two frames, and though he held Los Angeles scoreless for the remainder of his outing, he didn't get the run support necessary to be taken off the hook for the loss. Quantrill has had a few poor appearances this season but has generally been a positive addition to the Rockies' rotation, recording a 3.43 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 59:33 K:BB through 84 innings. • Cal Quantrill surrenders three runs in loss
Cal Quantrill lost to the Dodgers after allowing three runs in five innings on Monday.

Advice: This could and probably should have been worse, given that Quantrill allowed seven hits and walked three, but it goes as a pretty routine loss. Quantrill dropped to 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA. The sooner the Rockies trade him, the better the return will be. Rotoworld Monday, 9:08 pm

    • Fans six in no-decision
Fried allowed a run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out six during the win over Detroit.

Advice: Fried worked five scoreless frames until the Tigers finally broke through with a run in the sixth inning. He wasn't very efficient Monday, throwing 60 of 103 pitches for strikes while failing to complete six innings for the second straight outing. Fried dropped his ERA to 3.11 with a 76:27 K:BB through 84 innings. He's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Yankees this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:18 pm

    • Fried allows one run in no-decision
Max Fried allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Braves’ 2-1 victory over the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Fried gave up four hits, walked three and struck out six. He left the game with two on and one out in the sixth inning, but Jesse Chavez escaped the jam without further damage. It was a solid start for Fried, though the Braves couldn’t provide him with any run support while he was in the game. He continues to have a nice season as he lowered his ERA to 3.11 with the effort. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road this weekend.
