    • Luis Gil dazzles over six scoreless vs. Twins
Luis Gil recorded six strikeouts over six shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Twins.

Advice: The breakout sensation of the 2024 campaign so far, Gil kept rolling on Tuesday evening at Yankee Stadium, scattering one hit and three walks over six nearly-flawless frames against a talented Minnesota lineup. He’s emerged as an early AL Cy Young Award contender this season, allowing one earned run or fewer in seven consecutive starts since May 1. The 26-year-old righty won’t be able to sustain these sublime results long-term, but he’s rapidly evolved into a legitimate upper-echelon fantasy contributor, thanks to his ability to consistently miss bats and avoid hard contact. He’ll carry a microscopic 1.82 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 85/34 K/BB ratio across 69 1/3 innings (12 starts) into a challenging matchup on Sunday against the Dodgers. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Lands on IL with flexor strain
The Nationals placed Williams on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right flexor strain, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Williams had been slated to start Tuesday's game against the Mets but now will be sidelined for at least two weeks, and quite likely longer. The veteran right-hander has been a pleasant surprise for the Nationals this season, collecting a 2.22 ERA in 11 starts. DJ Herz was called up from Triple-A Rochester and will start Tuesday in Williams' stead. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am

    • Nats put Trevor Williams on IL with flexor strain
Nationals placed RHP Trevor Williams on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow flexor strain.

Advice: Williams will be out for at least two weeks with the injury, but there’s no timetable for his return yet as the injury occurred sometime after his start against Atlanta on Thursday. Washington has recalled DJ Herz to make the start against the Mets on Tuesday in Williams’ place. There should be further updates on the 32-year-old’s status in the coming days. • Secures save Sunday
Diaz walked one batter and struck out another in a scoreless inning Sunday. He earned a save over the Cubs.

Advice: Diaz worked around a leadoff walk to finish off the 5-2 victory. He's struggled at times throughout the year but appears to be turning a corner; Diaz has allowed one run over his last 5.2 innings while converting five straight save opportunities. The 27-year-old righty has 12 saves with a 23:16 K:BB and 5.64 ERA through 22.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:08 am
    • Seven strong innings
King came away with a no-decision Sunday against the Royals, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings.

Advice: King was sharp, not allowing an extra-base hit and turning in another quality start, his fifth over his past six contests. The 29-year-old snapped a three-game streak allowing a home run, something he has struggled with all season -- his 1.8 HR/9 ranks in the ninth percentile. On the whole, King has been solid this season, recording a 3.82 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with a 78:31 K:BB across 73 innings. The right-hander will look to build off this success in his next start, tentatively scheduled for this weekend against Arizona. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:00 pm

    • Picks up 17th save
Holmes threw a scoreless inning to earn a save against the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: Holmes quickly finished off the 7-5 win Sunday, needing just 12 pitches to retire San Francisco's 2-3-4 hitters in order. He began the year without allowing an earned run through 20 innings before coughing up four in a brutal outing against Seattle on May 20. Since then, he's turned in 5.2 scoreless frames to push his ERA back down to 1.37. Holmes owns a 27:8 K:BB and has converted 17 of 20 save chances this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:05 pm

    • Clay Holmes slams door on Giants on Sunday
Clay Holmes slammed the door on the Giants in the ninth inning on Sunday, protecting a two-run lead to earn his 17th save of the season.

Advice: The Yankees rallied for four runs off of Giants’ closer Camilo Doval in the top half of the ninth inning to take the lead and Holmes did his job to make sure that it stood up. He needed just 12 pitches (eight strikes) to retire Brett Wisely, Wilmer Flores and Matt Chapman in order to end it. The 31-year-old hurler has been spectacular this season, compiling a 1.37 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 27/8 K/BB ratio across 26 1/3 innings while nabbing 17 saves and a victory. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:35 pm

    • Michael King gets tough luck no decision vs KC
Michael King allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a no-decision against the Royals.

Advice: King was all set to record the win with the Padres up 3-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. However, with their bullpen being taxed heavily over the last few days, the Padres had to go with Yuki Matsui to close the game, and he allowed three runs while only recording one out. King was only able to induce eight whiffs on 48 swings for a 17 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW, but he allowed an average exit velocity on all batted balls of just 84 mph. Despite some poor starts, he has been a solid fantasy starter for much of the year and makes for a fine play against the Diamondbacks next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:37 pm

    • Alexis Díaz earns 12th save in win over Cubs
Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure a 5-2 win over the Cubs on Sunday.

Advice: Díaz walked one and struck out on and was never really in any jeopardy. Of course, it’s been a struggle for him this season, and the command issues are a big reason why. He now has a 5.64 ERA on the season but has a decent amount of job security with nobody to really threaten him in the bullpen. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:31 pm
