  • Takes loss Monday
Miller (4-5) retired three batters with a strikeout but allowed a solo home run to take the loss in Monday's 2-1 defeat against Atlanta.

Advice: Ozzie Albies took Miller deep with two outs in the eighth, and then the righty got stuck with the loss when the Tigers couldn't muster any more offense. The veteran has now been scored upon in his last two outings, pushing his season ERA up to 4.03. Despite the recent struggles, Miller should hold onto a high-leverage bullpen role due to his track record the past few years. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:16 pm
  • Dominates against Atlanta
Olson allowed four hits over six shutout innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out eight during the loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Olson spread four hits across a quality start and never faced much of a threat. It was a much-needed rebound performance after he'd gone 0-3 with a brutal 10.43 ERA over his previous three starts. He generated 16 whiffs Monday, including seven via the changeup. It was his highest total since forcing a season-high 17 on April 15. Olson is now sporting a 3.39 ERA with a 69:23 K:BB through 77 innings. His next start is projected to be at home against the White Sox. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 pm
  • Shut down for week
Waldrep (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for one week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Waldrep is dealing with right elbow inflammation and he'll now be forced to take a seat for at least a week before attempting to build his activity back up. He was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday after making his second start of the year Sunday versus the Rays, giving up six runs over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:03 pm
  • Jimenez picks up first save against Tigers Monday
Joe Jimenez threw a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Jimenez filled in nicely for Braves closer Raisel Iglesias, who had pitched in three of the last four days. There’s no closer controversy in Atlanta, but Jimenez lowered his ERA on the season to 2.89 with the scoreless inning. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:02 pm
  • Picks up fourth win
Sanchez (4-3) went seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) to earn the win Monday against the Padres. He gave up six hits, one walk, and struck out five.

Advice: Sanchez was impressive Monday against San Diego as he allowed only one extra-base hit. It was the eighth start this season in which he's allowed one earned run or fewer. The lefty matched his season high for innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 2.91 in the process. The 27-year-old is tentatively scheduled to pitch again this weekend versus the Diamondbacks. • Expected to join team in San Diego
Junis (shoulder) is expected to join the Brewers during their four-game road series against the Padres beginning Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Junis will meet the team in San Diego barring any discomfort from his sim game in Arizona on Monday according to manager Pat Murphy. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since April 6 with a right shoulder impingement and a subsequent head injury, but he now appears to be on the cusp of a return to the major-league roster. Given that Junis already built up to four innings in a sim game prior to Monday's outing, he is a candidate to join the big-league rotation this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:23 pm

  • Chase Silseth (elbow) to make third rehab start
Rather than rejoin the rotation, Chase Silseth will make a third rehab start on Friday.

Advice: Giving up three runs in five innings for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday wasn’t good enough to get Silseth back to the majors just yet. The Angels have off Thursday and Sunday this week, so there’s little harm in keeping Silseth down for now. If he pitches well Friday, he’ll probably be added to the rotation next week. Silseth has been out since early April with elbow inflammation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:12 pm
  • José Soriano gets scratched due to abdominal pain
José Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Monday due to abdominal pain.

Advice: Zach Plesac will go right into the rotation and start after being called up this afternoon. Hopefully, this is an illness and not something else abdomen-related for Soriano. Then again, the only way he’s going to finish this season as a starter is if he does miss a chunk of time on the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:28 pm
  • Claimed by O's, sent to Triple-A
Avila (undisclosed) was claimed off release waivers by the Orioles before being optioned to Triple-A Norfolk and placed on the minor-league 7-day injured list Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Avila was released by the Giants on Sunday, but it didn't take him long to find a new suitor. The right-hander has been out since May 31 while nursing an unspecified injury, but he will now account for the final slot on Baltimore's 40-man roster. Avila struggled to a 8.49 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings in eight appearances with San Francisco, so he'll likely have to prove himself at Norfolk before the Orioles would potentially call him up to the majors down the road.
