  • Shut down for week
Waldrep (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for one week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Waldrep is dealing with right elbow inflammation and he'll now be forced to take a seat for at least a week before attempting to build his activity back up. He was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday after making his second start of the year Sunday versus the Rays, giving up six runs over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:03 pm
  • Jimenez picks up first save against Tigers Monday
Joe Jimenez threw a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Jimenez filled in nicely for Braves closer Raisel Iglesias, who had pitched in three of the last four days. There’s no closer controversy in Atlanta, but Jimenez lowered his ERA on the season to 2.89 with the scoreless inning. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:02 pm
  • Picks up fourth win
Sanchez (4-3) went seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) to earn the win Monday against the Padres. He gave up six hits, one walk, and struck out five.

Advice: Sanchez was impressive Monday against San Diego as he allowed only one extra-base hit. It was the eighth start this season in which he's allowed one earned run or fewer. The lefty matched his season high for innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 2.91 in the process. The 27-year-old is tentatively scheduled to pitch again this weekend versus the Diamondbacks. • Expected to join team in San Diego
Junis (shoulder) is expected to join the Brewers during their four-game road series against the Padres beginning Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Junis will meet the team in San Diego barring any discomfort from his sim game in Arizona on Monday according to manager Pat Murphy. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since April 6 with a right shoulder impingement and a subsequent head injury, but he now appears to be on the cusp of a return to the major-league roster. It's unclear if Junis will be asked to step into the starting rotation upon his activation from the 60-day IL, but he'll likely be back in the rotation sooner rather than later. • Chase Silseth (elbow) to make third rehab start
Rather than rejoin the rotation, Chase Silseth will make a third rehab start on Friday.

Advice: Giving up three runs in five innings for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday wasn’t good enough to get Silseth back to the majors just yet. The Angels have off Thursday and Sunday this week, so there’s little harm in keeping Silseth down for now. If he pitches well Friday, he’ll probably be added to the rotation next week. Silseth has been out since early April with elbow inflammation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:12 pm
  • José Soriano gets scratched due to abdominal pain
José Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Monday due to abdominal pain.

Advice: Zach Plesac will go right into the rotation and start after being called up this afternoon. Hopefully, this is an illness and not something else abdomen-related for Soriano. Then again, the only way he’s going to finish this season as a starter is if he does miss a chunk of time on the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:28 pm
  • Claimed by O's, sent to Triple-A
Avila (undisclosed) was claimed off release waivers by the Orioles before being optioned to Triple-A Norfolk and placed on the minor-league 7-day injured list Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Avila was released by the Giants on Sunday, but it didn't take him long to find a new suitor. The right-hander has been out since May 31 while nursing an unspecified injury, but he will now account for the final slot on Baltimore's 40-man roster. Avila struggled to a 8.49 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings in eight appearances with San Francisco, so he'll likely have to prove himself at Norfolk before the Orioles would potentially call him up to the majors down the road. • Blue Jays place Yimi García on IL with nerve issue
Blue Jays placed RHP Yimi García on the 15-day injured list with right ulnar nerve neuritis.

Advice: García will be shelved for a couple of weeks after all. Since Jordan Romano has a chance to beat him back from the injured list, García is probably droppable in shallow leagues. Chad Green is the favorite for saves in the Toronto pen for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:12 pm
  • Asymptomatic but still shut down
Weathers (finger) is asymptomatic but has yet to resume a throwing program, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The left-hander has been out since early June with a left index finger strain. Weathers will be reevaluated early next week, so while he is feeling better, it appears he won't be cleared to throw for at least another week. He'll need to ramp things back up at that point, so a return before the end of June looks to be out of the question. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:04 pm
